How Many Rooms Are There in The White House
The White House is the home of the American Presidents and their families. The
construction began in October, 1792. Its first residents were President John
Adams and his wife. When they moved into the White House in 1800, it was not
fully completed. Since that time, each President has made his own changes and
additions.
The presidential building was originally called the “President’s Palace” or the
“President’s House.” In 1901, President Theodore Roosevelt officially gave the
White House its current name.
The White House was originally natural gray in
color, which is the color of sandstone used for
the building. The building was painted white to
hide the damages caused by a fire on August 24,
1814.
So, how many rooms are there in the White House? Don’t be surprised. There are
132 rooms and 35 bathrooms! There are also 3 elevators that are used to move
around the 6 floors, 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, and 8 staircases.
