DEFINATION:INDUCTION

Induction is the process of


receiving and welcoming an
employee when he first joins a
company and giving him the basic
information he needs to settle down
quickly and happily and start work
Lecture handbook, film, group seminar are used t o impart the information to new
employees about the environment of the job and the organization in order to make
the new employee acquaint himself with the following heads :

1) About the company’s history, objectives, policies, procedures,


rules and regulations, codes etc.

2) About the department .

3) About the supervisors, subordinates etc.


Advantages of Induction:

 First impression matters a good deal and


results in less turnover.
 New comer adjust himself to the work
quickly, and it saves the time of the
supervisor.
 Reduces employee dissatisfaction and
grievance
 Develops a sense of belongingness and
commitment.
Induction problems:

 Busy and/or untrained supervisors may fail in


carrying out the programme.
 The new employee may not cope up.
 The induction programme may fail if the
employee is miss placed.
 The employee may be required to fill too
many forms during the orientation/induction
programme.
TRAINING

According to the Dale s. Beach defines the


training as “… the organized procedure by
which people learn knowledge and/ skill for a
definite purpose.”
Training Objectives

 To prepare the employee, both new and old to


meet the present as well as the changing
requirement of the job and the organization.
 To prevent obsolescence.
 To prepare employee for higher level task.
 To impart the basic knowledge and skills they need
for an intelligent performance of a definite job.
 To promote individual and collective morale, sense
of responsibility, cooperative attitudes and good
relationships.
Benefits of Training
 Improves the job knowledge and skills at all levels of
organizations.
 Improves the morale of the workforce.
 improves the relationship between boss and subordinate.
 aids in organization development.
 Organization gets more effective in decision-making and
problem solving.
