Empty Homes Campaigning Pack launched

The national campaigning charity, the Empty Homes Agency has launched a new,
on-line campaigning pack for people wanting to take action locally on empty
homes.

“With all of the media coverage on empty homes, we have received an increasing
number of calls to our office by people wanting to do more to tackle the scandal of
empty homes in their area,” explained Jonathan Ellis, Chief Executive of the
Empty Homes Agency.”

“For this reason we have produced on-line resources to help individuals and
groups to campaign on empty homes.”

The campaign pack includes guidance on what should be happening in each local
authority together with model letters and press releases. Taken with the statistics
on empty homes on every local authority in the country, this pack aims to help lo-
cal campaigns to bring more empty homes back into use to meet housing need.

“W e hope that this pack inspires people that empty homes in areas of demand for
housing is not just a problem but that there are real actions that can be taken lo-
cally,” said Mr Ellis.
