The inaugural Balmain and Rozelle Chamber of Commerce Children's Easter Weekender saw Darling Street handed over to kids. Various businesses along the street held events like face painting, arts workshops, and a market with child performances. The Village Voice distributed hundreds of balloons and Easter eggs. Becc Grey from the Chamber said the weekend was very successful, with many happy children enjoying activities and long lines for face painting. She plans to hold the event again next year with hopes of more council and business support.

By Ashlee Betteridge The Easter Bunny wasn’t the only interesting character to visit Darling Street during the Easter long weekend. There were spidermen aplenty, tigers (of the jungle rather than foot- ball variety), fairies, pirates and even a goat or two. The inaugural Balmain and Rozelle Chamber of Commerce Children’s Easter Weekender saw the cafe strip handed over to the kids, to showcase the range of services of- fered by family friendly businesses on the peninsula. Facepainting, arts and photog- raphy workshops were some of the events held over the weekend, along with a market day complete with performances by local youngsters. The Village Voice handed out hun- dreds of balloons and easter eggs, while Tails R Wagging hosted an ani- mal farm on the asphalt. Becc Grey from the Balmain and Rozelle Chamber of Commerce said the weekend was a big success. “We were really, really happy at the result. The children were so hap- py and there were so many of them enjoying themselves,” Becc said. “Every kid had their face painted and the queue was so long we had to get more face painters by the end of the day,” she said. Becc said that the chamber would run the event again next year. “Now that people know that it’s fabulous, I am sure we will get more The Village Voice team handed out hundreds of balloons and easter eggs to young locals at the inaugural Balmain and support from the council and more Rozelle Chamber of Commerce Children’s Easter Weekender held on the long weekend, where parents and their kids businesses getting involved.” came out in droves to enjoy the wide range of activities on offer along the Darling Street strip.
