SYNOPSIS

TITLE:
A comparative analysis of Mutual Fund of Kotak Opportunity fund and Reliance

Equity Opportunities Fund with respect to The Treynor’ Measure ,Sharpe


Measure Jenson Model and Fama Model.

INTRODUCTION:
The project report deals with understanding the concepts of Mutual Funds with
respect to various models and types of Mutual Fund. Project will help to
understand the Mutual Fund .It is the most suitable investment for the common
man as it offers an opportunity to invest in a diversified, professionally managed
basket of securities at a relatively low cost. This project deals with Collection of
data and analysis their of Kotak Opportunity fund and Reliance Equity
Opportunities Fund for the year 2005 to 2010.

OBJECTIVES:
 To understand the core concept of Mutual Fund .
 To understand different risk involves in Mutual Fund.
 To study different major of performance of Mutual Fund. The Treynor
Measure , Sharpe Measure ,Jenson Model and Fama Model.
 To understand (ROI) Return on investment in mutual funds.
 To understand the recent trend in Mutual Fund.
HYPOTHESIS:

 It is assumed that the Mutual Fund as an investment avenue is not so popular


in India.
 It is assumed that the (ROI) Return on investment of Mutual Fund is the
only measure of performance of profit.
 It is assumed that the study will help to understand different risk return
profile of mutual fund and that will help to design different strategies of
Mutual Fund Design.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:

Kind of Research in Study:

 The research in the study will be exploratory.

Sources of Data Collection:

Primary Sources:
 The Primary data will be collected from Anand Rathi Share & Stock
Broking Ltd.
 Preparing questionnaire and circulating to prospective investor for data
collection.
Secondary Sources:
The secondary data will be collected with the help of various websites, books,
journals and magazines.

THE SCOPE OF STUDY & LIMITATIONS

 The scope of study is related to only year 2005-2010


 The study take only The Treynor’ Measure , Sharpe Measure, Jenson .
Model and Fama Model.

EXPECTED CONCLUTION:

 Mutual Fund is good investment scheme for investor for short term and long
term investment.
 The performance of Reliance Equity Opportunities Fund is better than
Kotak Opportunity Fund .
