PROPOSAL GUIDELINE

INTRODUCTION SECTION
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SECTIONS IN THE RESEARCH PROPOSAL. IF YOUR
INTRODUCTION IS CLEAR AND SUCCINT, YOU CAN CONVINCE THE READER WITH THE
AIM OF YOUR RESEARCH AND THEREFORE THE CHOSEN TOPIC. BEFORE WORRYING
ABOUT THE LITERATURE REVIEW AND THE REST OF THE PROPOSAL, PLEASE WORK ON
THE INTRODUCTION AND TRY TO SHAPE IT IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT. IF YOU HAVE

1. Background of the research


a. The most important definitions related to your topic
b. Why is it used - theories
c. How is it used or applied
2. Motivation for conducting this research
a. Your personal motivation for conducting this research
b. What do you aim to find out in the end
3. Objective of the study (these have to be verbs)
a. Your different research objectives should be stated here
b. Is it to complete the deficient literature (no info, about this
topic in KSA and so you intend to give an insight into it by
conducting this research)
Examples
c. Is it to conduct a gap analysis - analyze the difference
between the existing system and the perfect / ideal one
d. To understand the topic
e. To analyze how something is done
4. Feasibility of the study
a. In terms of time (will you be able to complete your
research in time)
b. Availability of information (is information about your topic
available – books, articles especially about KSA)
c. How do you plan to work around the lack of information if
any (conduct interviews, questionnaires, contact a
company to study)

Proposal 10%
Proposal presentation 10%
Final research 50%
Final research presentation 20%
Course portfolio 10% (folder with every single article,
book page you used in your research to prove that you wrote it)
