EVALUATION OF LATHER

SHAVING CREAM
Please add theory of lather shaving cream from poucher textbook
of cosmetics

Evaluation Parameters:

SKIN FEEL TEST

• Spreadibility: how easily does it spread by rubbing in a


circular movement defines spreadibility
• Tackiness: How intact it remains while rubbing
• Greasiness: it defines extent of smoothness of the cream
• Film forming: a coat of film formed is a very essential part
of such cream
• Softening: it defines extent of non irritancy

ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS
• Appearance:
• Odour
• Colour
• Texture

SCREENING TEST
• VISUAL EXAMINATION
Low power microscope: See uniformity of particle size.
(Please draw table and write readings) (use sudan 3 reagent)
Physical examination: No contamination found
• SPOT TEST
Detect cations by NESSLERS REAGENT
Detect anions by MERCURY(II) THIOCYANATE
• MELTING POINT
See the range of melting point
• PH MEASUREMENT
Use ph meter for measuring ph

• OTHER TEST
• FREEZE THAW TECHINQUE:for testing stability of
cream. Centrifuge at -60degree and then place at 60 degree
and see its stability
