Course: PERFORMANCE AND COMPENSATION MANAGEMENT

Teacher: Shah M Saad Husain

Semester: Fall 2010

Course Objective:

The performance of an organization depends on the performance of its people.

Everything in an organization gets done by its people. A successful organization is
one in which the best people perform at their best and where employees are
rewarded according to their work and worth.

The course elaborates on the quantum transformation that has occurred in

Human Resource Management in the 21st century and how HR strategies impact
organizational performance. All managers in an organization are also HR
managers, irrespective of their managerial functions. Managers have to know how
to manage the performance of their teams so that the corporate objectives of
today as well as the future are achieved efficiently, ensuring both organizational
growth and employee growth. An intrinsic element of organizational costs, and an
essential driver of employee satisfaction, is a competitive and equitable reward
system. This system, which includes financial as well as non-financial rewards,
should equate employee performance fairly to employee reward.

This course will prepare students to become effective managers of human capital
by teaching them how to develop, motivate and reward a competent team.
