Introduction :
 In today’s age of convenience, faster food
needs “No introduction”. Everyone from a
2-years-old toddler to a 60-years-grandpa
seems to be enjoying it every chance they
get. And why not? It’s delicious, it’s filling, is
really affordable and readily available just any
time of the day, being only a drive through
phone call away. What more can you ask for
when you are living life in the fast lane?
 Now the time is to provide better food
processing and it’s marketing infrastructure
for Indian industries to serve good quality and
safest processed food like RTE. It is opening
a new window in world scenario as far as
taste and acceptance is concerned.
Therefore, Indian govt. is providing more
infrastructure for this sector Excise duty is
now 0% on RTE and 100% tax deduction for
the first 10 years for new units.
Content :
 The ‘fast’, ‘easy’, and ‘ready’ are the blocks
building up a new food credo.
 The reports a 2009 Technopak study, food
habits of India. Indians are among the top 10
most-frequent consumers of faster food in the
world.
 In 2008, Ac-Nielsen survey shows that over
92% of metro mother consider instant
noodles and 55% chips and kurkure to be
“ideal snacks” because they are “convenient”.
 2 out of 3 families order food from outside at
least once a month.
 40%is the rate at which the market for make-
it- quick cook-books is growing.
 30% of the household food budget in urban
India is spent on packaged food.
 80% of visitors to a shopping mall end up
visiting the food court.
 77% order chaat food like bhel puri, samosa,
pani puri or pav bhaji every month.
 Ready to eat meals like already cooked or
prepared lunch and dinner are relatively new
product.
 The advertisement like, “Hungry kyaa” are
adding zest to the market by popularizing.
 These food items are normally selling in
pouches, well packed in cardboard printed
boxes of small book size.
 Such RET meals have been especially given
to soldiers in army of many countries.

Why Ready to eat food ?
 Globalization of Indian food and it’s culture
are the core factors for popularization of REF.
 Main motivation for these RTE food is fast
growing foreign market.
 Quality, taste and flavor of these foods
remains as good as fresh up to the expiry
date.
 More working bachelors staying away from
home.
Advantages :
 The main benefit of faster food is that it save
time.
 It require less energy for sterilization.
 It can be easily available at any place.
 It require less disposal and storage space.
 Sun light barrier, light weight, easy to open.
 Shelf stable for longer time.
 It can save cost.
Dis-advantages :
 The more vitamins and minerals are lost.
 They are usually less nutrient than whole
food.
 Fresh or whole food that have not been
processed area much healthier choice.
