FIRST RACE; FIRST PLACE

Chris Van Hove started the new series off with a bang,
battling hard with 2009 CMA champion Brian Wojnarowski.
Van Hove came to the line of the Mansfield Off-Road Ontario
XC with podium aspirations, and more specifically, he had his
eyes set on the first win. The young gun on the RMZ250 had his
little thumper humming to keep up and dogfight with the larger
two-stroke. The pair fought it out on the track, with the decision
coming down to the last hundred or so yards.
The two bikes screamed up the final straightaway. After
two laps of back and forth, with both the #21 and the #2 bike
taking the lead, it boiled down to two turns. The yellow thumper
managed to pull on the Yamaha just in time to cut the blue bike
off in the corner.
The two fierce competitors, who spent a good part of last
season and the one before, banging bars and trading points, but
when the first race of the new series was finished, they shook
hands and congratulated each other on a race well fought.
Chris would like to thank his sponsors: Lockhart’s Odys-
sey/Suzuki Canada, Swampy’s Racing Supplies, AmsOil, Go-
pher Dunes, Yoshimira, Alpinestars, Spy, Shift and Cycle Im-
provements.
