3. psychothemia - resemble bipolar but less severe, there's mood swing (- severe)

4. dysthemia - resembles major dep. but single occasion. duration is short & less severe, not preceded by manic.

ANXIETY D/O
- s/sx appear w/ no apparent reason, & don't go away.

1. GAD - generalized anxiety d/o


> chronic worries
> fear is always there though (-) reason
> hard to find time to relax
> easily startled
> light-headed

STAGES OF ANXIETY
> mild
>moderate - act/perform
>severe - you can't pay attention to other. focused on one
>panic - "terror" main concern is ESCAPE; communication is impossible

MNGT:
>manage anxiety before it escalates to the next level
>moderate - orders should be simple and easy to do
>hyperactive - tell 'em to relax and focus

TX: relieve anxiety - benzodiazetin (anxiolytics)

2. PANIC D/O
- sudden feelings of intense fear or terror that occurs w/o reason
- shaking
- recurrence of sudden apprehension and fearfulness
- most common to those with phobias
- consequences/ types/ classification?
> panic with agoraphobia - wants to escape from situation
> panic w/o agoraphobia

TX: anxiolytics; SSRI - selected serotonin reactive inhibitors

3. PHOBIA - fear is irrational and maximum


e.g. agoraphobia - fear of crowded places
socialphobia

4. OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE
-can't relieve anxiety til action is done. "ritualistic" behavior - majestic powers/culture
OC- repeat compulsion to relieve anxiety. thinks she did somethin' wrong so she repeats and repeats

5. POST TRAUMATIC STRESS SYNDROME


- traumatic experience - you go shocked/stressed
>nightmare - becomes fear

6. ACUTE STRESS D/O


- short duration only

7. ADJUSTMENT D/O
- residues in 6 months
- new to something/somewhere - they become stressed
TX: give self time.
