Background Of The Song

What Do You Want From Me? Is a Power-Pop song by the North American Band Forever The Sickest Kids.
The song is interpreted in a few different ways but the most common interpretation is that the song is about
not caring what people think of you and doing your own thing. Not doing what everyone else wants you to
do. The song has been used on a NERF © commercial in the USA along with some of the other bands songs. It
was released as a single in November 2009, which was the same month the album, was released. Although it
was released on YouTube first which is a common thing for the band to do. The song was also used on the
movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which was released on March 19th 2010.

The Music Video

My music video will take a completely different approach to the original, which can
be found on YouTube for comparison. I have decided to use special effects and
green screening to give the video a more large scale and higher budget feel
compared to the actual video. I think that this can represent the video well and add
a more engaging aspect to the song.

The video takes a lot of ideas and puts them into one yet can still pull it off by using
them in other ways. The main idea is of a animated wall which changes depending
on what is near it or what is touching it. There will be a mixture of shots from
performance and back to the wall/green screen. There will be graphiti style of
arrows and writing etc that appears at certain times and interacts with the characters on screen. Not only
this but there will also be animation off the wall such as speech bubbles and lettering. I think that this not
only goes with the song but also sticks to the genre yet still being original.
I am going to be using a lot of bright and bold colours to really make the video stand out. This will also stick
with the style of the band and the audience; this is through clothing worn and also through the use of special
effects. The clothing will be similar to that below which are bold colours although that will change to more
neutral colours once there are multiple effects on screen. I think this will make it easier on the eye and also
make the effects stand out over and behind the characters.

I am also hoping to get some shots away from that but still put a small amount of effects in just to make it fit
with the rest of the video. I think that I could do this by using footprints and paint splashes on the floors etc.
I am also aiming to get the words “What Do You Want From Me?” float like bubbles up towards the top of the
screen when they have been said at least once in the video. I think that this will make the video more
impressive and give it a higher budget feel.

The costume used will be bold colours such as greens and purples. This fits in with the bands actual image
but also the fans of the genre in general.
