SEATING ARRANGMENT

MANAGING THE LEARNING


ENVIRONMENT
Clusters
•Four or five desks pushed
together so every desk
is facing another one.

•Allows group and individual


work (more of collaborative
learning) .

•Disadvantage:
Students will be too noisy and
distracted as they are facing
one another.
Desk Rows
•Traditional classroom seating
arrangement of several rows of
desks facing the teacher (direct
instruction).

•Students are facing the


blackboard and instructional aids.

Disadvantage:
•Not good for group works
and may cause behavioral
problems to occur.
Table Rows

•Long tables that are placed in


rows that are perpendicular to
the front and back of the room.

•students sit next and across from


each other (collaborative
learning).

Disadvantage:
•Students involve in a lot of
socializing and it is very bad in a
test situation.
Semi-Circle

•All the desks touch each other


facing the front of the room in a
semi-circle shape.

•Teacher can see student


(instruction, child run or
collaborative).

Disadvantage:
•Teacher wont be able to meet
students one on one.
Pairs

•Two student desks are together and


spaced away from other pairs.

•Pairs allow the students to work


together and independently.
(adult run & collaborative)

Disadvantage:
•Students cant be able to discuss
and some will be left out.
Activity Zones or Centers

•There are usually about five or six


•tables set up in the row.

•Student actively engaged in activity


(collaborative learning).

Students discover academic skills


and have fun while learning.

for student behavior, which are expressed
through rules and procedures.

Teachers have to create a motivational

•Teachers have to ensure that their students

When problems occur in classroom, teacher


has to manage it in order to keep it from
spreading.
CONCLUSION
• The need for a classroom management system that is visible,
established, monitored, modified, refined, and reestablished.

• They must be prepared to create, implement, and


maintain an environment in which learning is the center.

• Teachers empowered with an understanding


of the complexity and multidimensionality of
classroom management make a difference
in the lives of their students.
