Classified Catalogue Code

Introduction
CCC is one of the most efficient & scientific code. This code was born at
Library of Madras University 76 years ago. This code was given by Great
Mathematician & father of Library Science of India Dr. S.R Ranganathan.
Classified Catalogue Code was firstly introduced in 1934 followed by five
Editions.They are as follows:

1st edition 1934


2nd edition 1945
3rd edition 1951
4th edition 1958
5th edition 1964

• During Last few decades catalogue codes are beginning to be based


on Normative Principals stated explicitly & cataloguing has
certainly matured to adopt scientific methods.
