How to export DWG to WMF

What programs you need?

- AutoCad (dwg-file v2007 or lower). I am using AutoCad2000

- Adobe Acrobat v9. I am using Acrobat v9.3
- CorelDraw v14 or upper. I am using Corel X4

Prepare dwg-file:

You need to create a model and layout page setups. If you want to export only one page then in the "model"
tab go to "File/Page Setup"

First adjust the printer and paper size (1), paper orientation (2) and the scale (3). The plot offset(4) should be
set as it is X=0 and Y=0. At the end, click on the "Window"(5) and select the area which should be exported.

Important:
- Plot offset always has to be set to zero
- The scale you chose in that scale the drawing will be imported in Adobe(pdf) and later in
CorelDraw(cdr). I will recommend before closing AutoCad to do a Print Preview in order to be shore
what you are exporting

Exporting to PDF:

There are two ways to do exporting.

(1) from AutoCad go to "File/Print" and select Acobe Pdf as a printer and do printing

(2) Open Adobe Acobat and from "File" menu select "Create PDF / From File". Then select the AutoCad file.
Remember for Acrobat v9 dwg file has to be dwg 2007.
The "Layout otions" can be selected for "All Layouts" if in the dwg file exist "Model" tab and extra
created "Layout" tabs.

What are the differences between the method (1) and (2)?

In the first method (1) the most of text is printed as curves so when the pdf file is imported in CorelDraw the
text is as curve and you can not do the fast text editing. In this method there is no any extra grouping of objects
(lines,text).

In the second method (2) the text is exported as text so when the pdf file is imported in CorelDraw the text is as
text. The limitation of this method is that some text objects can be grouped and rotated and can has other
location than in dwg-file. Also some lines can be grouped or even several lines to be connected as one curve.

Importing pdf-file in CorelDraw:

When you have created pdf-file from dwg-file the next step is to import the pdf-file in CorelDraw.
Open CorelDraw and create a new project. Just you need to do importing of the pdf-file. When drawing is
imported you can do some adjustment on your drawing.

Exporting to wmf:

From CorelDraw file just do export as wmf.

That's All!
