LITERATURE RIVIEW

As we know that today in telecom industry there is a huge competition between the
operators on various issues such as advertising, best offers at new connection, customer
care, best product and tarrif plans etc. There are basically six major telecom operators
delivering there services to the customers of UP(East) telecom circle which are as follows
1. Reliance Communication
2. Idea cellular
3. Vodafone
4. BSNL
5. Tata Indicom
6. Airtel
Having head office at state capital Lucknow in one is a public sector company i.e. BSNL
and the remainings are private operators.
There is a tough competition between Reliance communication, Tata Indicom and
Airtel on certain issues i.e. Value added services (VAS) , Internet data card, post paid
services, products and tariffs, customer care, offer at new connections, network
connectivity etc
There is a nech to nech competition between Tata Indicom And Reliance
Communication for Wireless broadband data card whereas for the call rates there is a
tough competition between Airtel and Reliance communication.
The survey which was conducted by me in Lucknow in which one point should be
note it that public sector company BSNL is lack behind from the private sector company
having major resources available to it , instead it is far behind, this is because due to poor
network coverage which is the core of telecom company.

Saumya Sxena (2007) : She conducted a survey on the same topic but at that time the
services offered today by major telecom operators were less such as Wireless broadband
data card , Reliance GSM services etc.
In her study she directly compares the services of Reliance Communication from other
operators , the services are as follows:
1. CDMA service
2. Network connectivity
3. Advertising
4. Wireless broadband
5. Products and Tariffs
were mentioned where there was a direct competition for Broadband Services offered by
BSNL (newly launched in selected cities only) , Reliance Communication, Airtel, and
Tata Indicom.
