 Reduction in mobile termination rates by ACCC, from 18 cents to 15 cents, further, the effective
rate reduction faced by Optus was greater than the reduction mandated by ACCC

 As a result of strategy to increase fixed line customer base Optus recorded 62 % increase in the
number of broadband customers
 Launch of mio TV in July 2007 increased customer base and thereby impacted financials
 At the end of financial year i.e. March 2008 Optus had 1.19 million users, representing a 116 %

 Operational EBITDA margin declined 4 percentage points to 33 %, mainly reflecting higher
acquisition and retention costs associated with postpaid subscriber growth of 7.8 per cent

 Operating revenue up 6.7%


 Operational EBITDA at A$1.48 billion - up 1.3%
 Free cash flow of A$549 million - up 6.5%
 Reduction in EBITDA due iPhone 3G initiative, but the company maintained a stable net profit
 Increase of 12% in service revenue – highest in previous five years – primarily due to strong
postpaid performance of 11% and prepaid growth of 13%
 strong net additions of 104,000 postpaid customers in the quarter ending December 2008
 Increase in penetration of data wireless data – data revenue accounted for 33% to total mobile
revenue (Source-AR 2008-09)
 Addition of 652,000 net new mobile customers in Australia compared to 400,000 the previous
year
 Revenue growth of 7% Y-o-Y (according to financial year)
 Optus posted net profit growth of 5.6 % to AUD 583 million, on solid revenue growth of 7.2% to
