INPUTS AND OUTPUTS DEVICES

LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end learners should have reached the following outcomes

 Be able to define computer inputs and outputs devices with examples.

 Should be able to identify which devices are regarded as inputs and outputs.
 Explain why touch screen is considered as input and output device.

LEARNING CONTENT
INPUTS DEVICES
Computer input devices are the devices that make input into the computer. For example, a mouse
and a keyboard are inputs devices because they are used to put in data or key in data into the
computer (keyboard) and mouse to highlight and make changes on the work.

OUTPUT DEVICES
Output devices bring out data to be seen by the user as a hard copy or a soft copy. A hard copy is a
page that gets out of the printer therefore a printer is an output device. A soft copy is what can be
viewed on the screen because I cannot touch it and a monitor is an output device.
A TOUCH SCREEN
A touch screen monitor does two things. Firstly I can click on the monitor with my finger to edit
work that appears on the computer and in that way I am inputting data. Secondly, when I view work

on the screen, that is an output.
