The fifth batch of 245 students will be completing the Course on 7th May 2010.
The College Day for the Year 200 8 -09 was celebrated on 28th March 2008. The
Chairman Bishop Mar James Paz hayattil presided the meeting and The Hon’ble
Justice P N Ravindran inaugurated the function.
2.0 Academic Activities : The Academic Year 2009 – 10 was inaugurated by Fr.
Dr. Paul Achandy, Director, Amala Medical College Hospital, Thrissur on 9 th June
2009
The Seventh and Fifth semester classes started on 9th June, and Third semester on
23rd July 2009. All the semesters were terminated on 3rd December. The forth, sixth
and eighth semesters classes started on 7th December and is continuing.
The admissions to I & II semester could be started only after 21 st August 2009.
After two weeks of orientation the regular classes of 2009 admission was
inaugurated by Msgr. Dr. Vincent Alappatt on 7 th September 2009.
Director Prof. K.T. Joseph and Principal Dr. Su dha George Valavi took the charge
on 1st January 2010 and Dr. M.S. Jayadeva continues as the Adviser.
2.1 Results: The VIII semester results of the fourth Batch (2005 admission) was
announced on 9th August 2009. The results are very good. The overall pass
percentage is 90 %.

2.2 The final result of 2009 batch (2005 admission) on completion of the ir Course

3.0 Placement & Training : The HRD Department is giving regular Training to
the students from beginning to the end of the course in many areas. The following
are the major activities condu cted during report period.
06- May-09: The input session was given for the 2009 Pass out students. The
speakers invited were Mr. Maaney Paul who delivered a talk on: “Listening
Skills and Power of Mind”. Also, Mr. Anil Titus, Manager - Information Systems
Group & OSDS of IBS Company “ Transition from Campus Life & Working
Overseas”.
22- May-09: Escube Technologies along with IHRD and IBM held a Placement
Officers meet at Trivandrum. The Placemen t Officer attended the session.
30- May 09: Malini Robby and Placement Officer attended the Conference on
“Identifying English Language Standards for employment and achieving this
standards in Education ” organized by British Council and University of
Cambridge ESOL at Hotel Avenue Regent Kochi
05 – June – 09: The Campus recruitment for IBM by Escube was conducted for the
2009 pass outs. 25 students participated and 13 from Sahrdaya and 6 from other
colleges got selected .Students from Mets Engineering Co llege, SCMS, CUSAT,
TKM and Rajagiri participated in the recruitment .
24-July-09: Mock Test for CAT Exam was conducted by TIME for 2011 pass out
students.
25-July-09: Scholarship test for CAT was conducted by Career Launch for the
2010 pass out students.
28-July-09: As a part of the Infosys Campus Connect Program, Road show was
conducted by the Infosys Officials to start the second batch of foundation and soft
skill training programs. Sahrdaya has been certified in the Advanced Category by
Infosys and hence was awarded a Lapto p to the college.
22-Sep-09: The placement Officer attended the soft skills workshop for 3 three
days at Mysore conducted by Infosys.
31-Oct-09: Seven students had attended the camp “ ALTIUS” organized by World
Malayalee Association at Elite International. The purpose of the camp was to
make the students to be committed to the society and grow into globally
competent and socially committed men and women.
3-Nov-09: The placement Officer attended the road show of “India IT Summit
2009” conducted by CII at Kakkanadu, Ernakulum
6-Nov-09: The placement Officer with Ms. Amal Nazer (BM Student) attended
and visited around 30 Biomedical Stalls in 36 th International Conference of
Biochemists India” at Amritha Institute of Medical Science Kochi.
3-Dec-09: Global Talent Track (GTT) conducted a Campus Recruitment for the
2010 pass out students. GTT is the NASSCOM approved provider for MNCs like
IBM, Mphasis, Wipro, Infosys, Mearsk etc. The criteria of selection were based on
GD, Test and Personal Interview. There were 105 students attended the
recruitment and 50 are selected.
10-Dec-09: The Executive Director, Principal and the placement Officer attended
India IT Summit 2009 on the theme of Changing Role of India in the Global IT
Business” conducted by CII at the Leela Penta, Kovalam.
18-Dec-09: HCL Technologies cond ucted Aptitude Test for the 2010 pass out
students as part of their work and study programme.
06 – Jan – 10: The Campus recruitment for Infosys was conducted and 12 students
from Sahrdaya got selected.
29-Jan -10: The career Launches India Ltd. A leading Education services provider
conducted an aptitude test for the national leadership for college students
“Tycoons 2010”
7-Feb -10: Spectrum softtech solution (p) Ltd., Cochin conducted a campus
recruitments for the 2010 pass out students.
During the month of June and July , industrial visits to HAL, BHEL, Keltron,
Spacelabs, Tata Consultancy, Infosys, Wockhardt, Manipal Hospitals,
Biotechnology Firms and to many more organizations were arranged for the
III rd, V th and VII th Semester students.
Conducted the Bridge Course for the I st years for one week inviting trainers
like Fr. Joy Nellissery, Mr. George Joseph, Dr. Siju Thottapilly and many
more. The programs were on Personality Development, Tips for Effective
Communication, Ragging, Self Motivation, Dreams and Goals, Ice breaking
sessions and Group Activities.
Every Fridays during the placement training, the placement papers of various
companies are given as a test pape r and then in the following classes, the
paper is solved by the students.
Alumni’s contacted to know whether they had appeared for exams like
GATE, CAT, MAT etc. and also how many of them are pursuing for higher
studies.
The job opportunities are informed to the pass out students by mail. Also, the
college website has a page namely “Opportunities” where the latest
employment opportunity details are posted.
We installed the Language Lab Students and Staff could improve their
spoken English by getting trained in this Lab.
4.0 Faculty and Staff : We are proud of our Faculty and staff, their dedication
and Commitment. The following Faculty members, who were on study leave
rejoined the college after successful completion of their M.Tech Degree,
We have 65 Faculty Members on our rolls and 5 faculties on study leave and 3 on
long leave.
Two faculty members are deputed for M.Tech under QIP and one is sponsored for
M.Tech by the management. Another one is given study leave facility for doing
part time M.Tech. Six faculty members are given study leave for doing part time
PhD.
During the report period (January – December 2009) 17 faculties left the
Institution and 19 faculties joined.
4.1 Office & Supporting Staff : We have 11 Office Staff and 22 Supporting
Staff at present on rolls.
Four In house faculty training programme were conducted for teaching staff
during report period. Training was also organized for the Office Staff and
Supporting Staff.
A one day picnic to Bhoothathankettu and Malayattoor was conducted for the
whole staff of Sahrdaya on 31st August 2009.
The following students were selected as the Secretary and Joint Secretary of
various Technical Associations for the year 2009-10.
Study Tour was conducted for all the students in Biomedical En gineering.

5.2 BEATS:
Students tour were conducted for 3rd, 5th and 7th semester students
5.3 ACES:
Mr. Harikrishnan, 2007 batch alumni shared his experience with the
students on 8 th August 2009.
On 18th February the 3 day workshop for teachers on wireless com puting &
Mobile Adhoc Net Wires inaugurated today by Prof. C.P. Sunilkumar
Secretary of ISTE Kerala.
5.4 EMAGE:
The exhibition of VIII semester projects was conducted on 14th May 2009 and
exhibition of the students Projects of VI and IV semesters were conducted on May
16th and 17th 2009

7.0 Students Council : The Following Office bearers were nominated to the
College Students Council for the year 200 9 – 10
The Students Council for the year 200 9 – 10 was inaugurated on 24th July 2009 by
our Chairman Bishop Mar James Pazhayattil. The office bearers took charge of
their office after taking the Oath. The student’s council organized many programs
during the report period.
Independence Day was celebrated with flag hoisting and canvas painting
competition. Mr. P Ubaid, Judge, Munsiff Court, Irinjalakuda delivered
Independence Day Message.
Onam was celebrated on August 29, with pookkalam competition and many other
entertainments.
The Birth day of Chairman was celebrated on 24th July 2009 and the Birth day of
Executive Director was celebrated on 16 th December 2009
The Engineers Day was celebrated on 15 th September 2009 with message by Mr. S
Swapnakumar, HOD of CSE Department.
The Arts Day “Panache 10” was celebrated on 4 th & 5th December 2009. Mr. Leo
Thaddeus, Film Director Inaugurated the Arts Festival.
The Inter Association Games Tournaments was inaugurated by Ms. Geethu Anna
Jose, Captain of Indian Women Basketball Team, on November 13, 2009.
The Anti Ragging Awareness Programme was conducted to the parents , students
and staff. The District Jugde Kamal Pasha addressed the gathering.
December 2009.
Our Students participated in many Inter Collegiate Technical, Arts and Sports
Competitions and won prizes. The following students won prizes in various
competitions during the period of Report.
4. Ms Beena Thomas (207722) and Ms Aruna Paul (207702)won the first prize
in the Quiz competition conducted by the Kerala motor vehicles dept on
5th February 2009.
5. Ms Chris John (205000) won the first prize in painting and second prize in
pencil drawing competition conducted by the Kerala Motor vehicles dept
in connection with the road safety week on 5th February 2009.
6. Ms Judie Johny (205004) won the second prize in slogan making and third
prize in essay writing competition conducted by the Kerala state Motor
Vehicles dept on 5 th Feb 09
8. Ms. Soumya P D (406 720), Ms. Joseena Mariam ( 406 734) and Ms. Akhila
George (406 014) won the First Prize in Paper Presentation arranged by
Anna University Chennai on “ Extraction of Allyil Isothiocyanate From
Mustard Meal”
9. Mr. Jackson Ouseph (306903) won the third prize in “Paper Presentation”
conducted at Government Engineering College, Thrissur on 20 th February
2009.
10.The soft ware project of the students of VIII CS won the third prize in the
project competition conducted at IES Engineering College. The team
comprises of Mr. Krishnabal K B (205 701), Mr. Anand Abraham (205 003 ),
Mr. Flemin Paul ( 205 013), Mr. Rishy George ( 205 011) and Mr. Justin Jose

11.Mr. Atul Sharma (305 713) and Mr. Ajai Basil (305 371) won the second
prize in Paper Presentation Avinashilingam University Coimbatore in the
National Level Technical Symposium on March 5 th 2009

first prize in a Paper Presentation Competition conducted at SNM College
Maliankara, Paravoor on February 2009.

36.Ms. Nirmala Isabel Vincent (406 716) and Ms. Salwa C H (406 254) won the
First Prize in Paper Presentation at conducted at Sree Buddha College of
Engineering.
1. The PEGSAGA, Volley Ball Tournament was condu cted at our ground on
April 1st to 4th 2009 and our team won the runner up trophy.
3. Practice Matches were arranged in Volley Ball and Basket Ball with the
Minor Seminary Irinjalakuda and Major Seminary Thrissur.
The unit of NSS (Unit No. 164) Technical Cell of our college organized many
Programmes during the period of report.
NSS arranged a Blood & Eye Donation campaign on 26 th June 2009. Fr. Dr.
Francis Alappatt, Director of Jubilee Mission Medical College delivered an
awareness talk to the staff and students. Forty students donated their blood.
The Annual Sports Meet was conducted on March 23, 2009, Fr. Vincent
Tharayil inaugurated the meet
The College Arts Day “SATRANG2K9” was celebrated on March 25 th & 28th
.Mr. Anoop Sankar, Playback Singer inaugurated
The formal send off to the fourth batch of students “AUREVOIR 09” was
arranged on 8 th May 2009. Bishop Mar James Pazhayattil presented Silver
Ring, file with certificates, Transcript and Testimonials to all the outgoing
students
A three day residential retreat “FIA T 09” was organized in the campus
during 8th to 11th October 2009.
A two day technical fest “COHERENCE 09” was organized by the ISTE
Students Chapter on October 30, 31 2009
Class wise PTWA meeting was arranged in the month of July and December
11.0 Scholarships and Awards : The Diamond Ring for the Best All
round Student of the Year 2007 – 08 sponsored by M/s Sunny Diamonds, Rajaji
Road, Ernakulam was awarded to M s. Rimna Rasheed (205004) of BT.
All staff members who completed five years and more of Service in Sahrdaya
were honored with Silver Ring and Certifica tes
Scholarships and Awards from Bishop Mar James Pazhayattil Silver Jubilee
Welfare Fund was given to deserving students based on the recommendations of
the Committee constituted for the same
Total free ship is offered to 20 students and fee concession is given to 2 students
A total of Rs. 16, 69,100 is given to 55 students during 2008 -09 financial year as
scholarship and free ship
Ms. Delsa Davis (206 704) and Ms. Deepa K (206 714) were selected for Merit
Award by Architects and Engineers Association, Thrissur for being top in
Computer Science Engineering among the students of all the eight
Engineering Colleges in Thrissur District.
Two students R & D Projects (1 from BME and 1 from BT) are selected for a
Grant of Rs. 30000/00 and Rs. 50000/00 respectively from the Institution
of Engineers (India).
Ms. Remya Vijayakumar (209 904) selected to the semi finals of famous
music reality show conducted by Amri ta T V “Super Star 2”
14.0 Conclusion:
