I am very happy to present the 8th Annual Report of Sahrdaya College of


Engineering and Technology for the year 200 9-10 before the august audience
present here.

1.0- Introduction : Sahrdaya College of Engineering and Technology started


functioning on 23 rd September 2002, and already t hree batches of students have
completed their Course, and left the Campus in flying colours .

The fifth batch of 245 students will be completing the Course on 7th May 2010.

The College Day for the Year 200 8 -09 was celebrated on 28th March 2008. The
Chairman Bishop Mar James Paz hayattil presided the meeting and The Hon’ble
Justice P N Ravindran inaugurated the function.

2.0 Academic Activities : The Academic Year 2009 – 10 was inaugurated by Fr.
Dr. Paul Achandy, Director, Amala Medical College Hospital, Thrissur on 9 th June
2009

The Seventh and Fifth semester classes started on 9th June, and Third semester on
23rd July 2009. All the semesters were terminated on 3rd December. The forth, sixth
and eighth semesters classes started on 7th December and is continuing.

The admissions to I & II semester could be started only after 21 st August 2009.
After two weeks of orientation the regular classes of 2009 admission was
inaugurated by Msgr. Dr. Vincent Alappatt on 7 th September 2009.

Director Prof. K.T. Joseph and Principal Dr. Su dha George Valavi took the charge
on 1st January 2010 and Dr. M.S. Jayadeva continues as the Adviser.

2.1 Results: The VIII semester results of the fourth Batch (2005 admission) was
announced on 9th August 2009. The results are very good. The overall pass
percentage is 90 %.
The branch wise pass percentage in different branches is as follows:-

2.2 The final result of 2009 batch (2005 admission) on completion of the ir Course
is very good.

Out of 245 students appeared 196 students have passed all subjects

The aggregate Pass Percentage is 80 %

3.0 Placement & Training : The HRD Department is giving regular Training to
the students from beginning to the end of the course in many areas. The following
are the major activities condu cted during report period.

31-Mar-09: Campus recruitment by Turboplus Information Technology for the


2009 pass out students for EC & CS. 22 participated and 11 were selected.

02-Apr-09: A technical and HR Session was conducted by Infosys. The technical


topic was on “The World of Software Testing “by Mr. Harish and an HR Session
by Mr. Moses Ferdinand for the 2009 and 2010 pass outs.

04-Apr-09: Mr. Kurian Joy of Changing World Education Horizon conducted an


“Overseas Education Seminar ” for 2009 pass out students.

20-Apr-09: Mr. Sankarnarayanan attended four days Faculty Enablement


Program conducted by Infosys at Mysore as part of the campus connect program.

22-04-09: Placement Officer and Jissa George attended the “Competency


Development Sharing of Inte rnational Best Practices” conducted by Faith
Infotech at Hotel Park Residency Kochi.

06- May-09: The input session was given for the 2009 Pass out students. The
speakers invited were Mr. Maaney Paul who delivered a talk on: “Listening
Skills and Power of Mind”. Also, Mr. Anil Titus, Manager - Information Systems
Group & OSDS of IBS Company “ Transition from Campus Life & Working
Overseas”.

22- May-09: Escube Technologies along with IHRD and IBM held a Placement
Officers meet at Trivandrum. The Placemen t Officer attended the session.

30- May 09: Malini Robby and Placement Officer attended the Conference on
“Identifying English Language Standards for employment and achieving this
standards in Education ” organized by British Council and University of
Cambridge ESOL at Hotel Avenue Regent Kochi

05 – June – 09: The Campus recruitment for IBM by Escube was conducted for the
2009 pass outs. 25 students participated and 13 from Sahrdaya and 6 from other
colleges got selected .Students from Mets Engineering Co llege, SCMS, CUSAT,
TKM and Rajagiri participated in the recruitment .

22-July-09: The Placement Officer attended a meeting conducted by HCL


Technologies at Thrissur.

24-July-09: Mock Test for CAT Exam was conducted by TIME for 2011 pass out
students.

25-July-09: Scholarship test for CAT was conducted by Career Launch for the
2010 pass out students.

28-July-09: As a part of the Infosys Campus Connect Program, Road show was
conducted by the Infosys Officials to start the second batch of foundation and soft

skill training programs. Sahrdaya has been certified in the Advanced Category by
Infosys and hence was awarded a Lapto p to the college.

19-Aug-09: As part of the Entrepreneurship Development Club, Technofirst


conducted a road show “I am an Entrepreneur” for all the students of the college.

22-Sep-09: The placement Officer attended the soft skills workshop for 3 three
days at Mysore conducted by Infosys.

31-Oct-09: Seven students had attended the camp “ ALTIUS” organized by World
Malayalee Association at Elite International. The purpose of the camp was to
make the students to be committed to the society and grow into globally
competent and socially committed men and women.

3-Nov-09: The placement Officer attended the road show of “India IT Summit
2009” conducted by CII at Kakkanadu, Ernakulum

6-Nov-09: The placement Officer with Ms. Amal Nazer (BM Student) attended
and visited around 30 Biomedical Stalls in 36 th International Conference of
Biochemists India” at Amritha Institute of Medical Science Kochi.

18-Nov-09: Conference on the theme “IT Industry perspective of talent pool in


India” was conducted in the college . HR Managers from TCS, Cognizant and
HCL Technologies participated and delivered talk on Talent management for
corporate excellence, Higher education or Employment during Economic
Slowdown and Future career prospects in IT industry. Followed by an interactive
session of one hour with the students participating from different colleges. The
purpose was to have an interaction session with students to overcome the
inhibitions of recession.

3-Dec-09: Global Talent Track (GTT) conducted a Campus Recruitment for the
2010 pass out students. GTT is the NASSCOM approved provider for MNCs like
IBM, Mphasis, Wipro, Infosys, Mearsk etc. The criteria of selection were based on
GD, Test and Personal Interview. There were 105 students attended the
recruitment and 50 are selected.

10-Dec-09: The Executive Director, Principal and the placement Officer attended
India IT Summit 2009 on the theme of Changing Role of India in the Global IT
Business” conducted by CII at the Leela Penta, Kovalam.

18-Dec-09: HCL Technologies cond ucted Aptitude Test for the 2010 pass out
students as part of their work and study programme.

06 – Jan – 10: The Campus recruitment for Infosys was conducted and 12 students
from Sahrdaya got selected.

29-Jan -10: The career Launches India Ltd. A leading Education services provider
conducted an aptitude test for the national leadership for college students
“Tycoons 2010”

7-Feb -10: Spectrum softtech solution (p) Ltd., Cochin conducted a campus
recruitments for the 2010 pass out students.

3.1: Other Activities:

 During the month of June and July , industrial visits to HAL, BHEL, Keltron,
Spacelabs, Tata Consultancy, Infosys, Wockhardt, Manipal Hospitals,
Biotechnology Firms and to many more organizations were arranged for the
III rd, V th and VII th Semester students.

 Conducted the Bridge Course for the I st years for one week inviting trainers
like Fr. Joy Nellissery, Mr. George Joseph, Dr. Siju Thottapilly and many
more. The programs were on Personality Development, Tips for Effective
Communication, Ragging, Self Motivation, Dreams and Goals, Ice breaking
sessions and Group Activities.

 We have 6 trainers imparting classes on the Human Development Programs,


Moral Science, Health Science, Yoga, Spoken English, Foreign Language,
Aptitude Test Training, Mock Interviews and Company Profiles and covering
areas of Soft skills. A full -fledged HRD training syllabus is prepared for the
academic year.

 Every Fridays during the placement training, the placement papers of various
companies are given as a test pape r and then in the following classes, the
paper is solved by the students.

 During the study group activity on every Friday, we conduct various


programs like Technical and General Quiz, Objective Knowledge, Product
Marketing, Skit, Debate and Group Discussi on. To boost up the confidence,
prizes are given to the best group or best student.

 Alumni’s contacted to know whether they had appeared for exams like
GATE, CAT, MAT etc. and also how many of them are pursuing for higher
studies.

 The job opportunities are informed to the pass out students by mail. Also, the
college website has a page namely “Opportunities” where the latest
employment opportunity details are posted.

 We invite Student Alumni to share their corporate experiences and enlighten


the current opportunities in each discipline.

 Chris John, student of Computer Science participated in Aspirations 2020


conducted by Infosys and won the Distinguished Student Award.

 We installed the Language Lab Students and Staff could improve their
spoken English by getting trained in this Lab.

4.0 Faculty and Staff : We are proud of our Faculty and staff, their dedication
and Commitment. The following Faculty members, who were on study leave
rejoined the college after successful completion of their M.Tech Degree,

We have 65 Faculty Members on our rolls and 5 faculties on study leave and 3 on
long leave.

Two faculty members are deputed for M.Tech under QIP and one is sponsored for
M.Tech by the management. Another one is given study leave facility for doing
part time M.Tech. Six faculty members are given study leave for doing part time
PhD.

During the report period (January – December 2009) 17 faculties left the
Institution and 19 faculties joined.

4.1 Office & Supporting Staff : We have 11 Office Staff and 22 Supporting
Staff at present on rolls.

41 Faculty Members attended STTP, workshops and seminars at various


institutions during the report period.

8 members of our faculty published /presented papers in journals and


conferences.

Four In house faculty training programme were conducted for teaching staff
during report period. Training was also organized for the Office Staff and
Supporting Staff.

Regular staff meetings were conducted on Saturdays to review the progress of


academic activities and six Technical Papers meetings were conducted by the Staff
Council.

A one day picnic to Bhoothathankettu and Malayattoor was conducted for the
whole staff of Sahrdaya on 31st August 2009.

5.0 Technical Associations : The Technical Associations in all the four


departments organized a number of Programmes to promote the technical and
organizational skills of the students.

A number of invited talks and symposium were organized by the Technical


Association. The following are some of the major Programmes organized during
the report period.
5.1 EBSA:

 Study Tour was conducted for all the students in Biomedical En gineering.

 The Technical Journal of the Department Medcon’09 released on 18 th May


2009.

 A seminar on “Future trends in Bioinformatics and Biomedical Imaging”


was conducted on 10 th July 2009 by Sai Bioscience Coimbatore.

 A seminar and demonstration on “S ignal Processing in Biomedical


Application with respect to ECG” was arranged on 22 nd August 2009 by
Innmad Systems Kochi

 A talk on “ Dimensions of Biomedical Engineering by Ms. Vidhi Mariam,


GE Health Care Systems Bangalore on 3 rd October 2009

 Mr. Luke Tom, 2006 pass out alumni shared his experience of working as
Biomedical Engineer in Electro Medical Group Australia on 8 th October
2009

 A seminar on “Laser Application in Medicine” by Dr. Varghese John,


Jubilee Medical College, Thrissur conducted on 15 th October 2009

 Medcon ‘ 09 a three day National Seminar on “ Perceptions in Biomedical


Engineering & Health Care” was organized on 5 th to 7th November 2009. Dr.

inaugurated the seminar and many important persons presented papers
and participated in the seminar.

 A Seminar on “Foot pressure measurement of gait analysis” by Mr. Jacob


Thomas, Principal, IHRD Engineering College, K allooppara was conducted
on 10th December 2009.

 Four students of 8 th semester participated in Technoprenur ’09 at


Ernakulam on 15 th December 2009.

 A four day Hospital Training was arranged to the 8 th semester students at


various Hospitals during December 18 to 22.

 EBSA arranged a seminar on “Digital Image processing by Mr. Gilson


Thomas, HOD of CS, MES, Kuttipuram.

 February 25 th the BM department released the technical journal of the


department “ Transaction of Medcon -09”

5.2 BEATS:

 Students tour were conducted for 3rd, 5th and 7th semester students

 Twelve Students of BEATS participated in “BiOASIA ’09” at Hyderabad


organized by the Global Bio Business Forum on 2 nd to 5th February 2009.

 Dr. T R Sreekrishnan from Biochemical Department of IIT Delhi,


inaugurated the activities of BEATS for the year 2009 -10 on 1st July 2009 and
Research Development and Design Centre was inaugurated on the same
day

 Prof. Abul Ata, Professor of Biotechnology from Egypt visited the


department and discussed with staff and s tudents about a project on
“editable Insulin for Diabetics” on 6 th July 2009.

 Dr. Madan Thankavelu conducted a seminar on “Operations in


Biotechnology “on July 7th 2009.

 The Journal Club in BT Department was inaugurated by Dr. K V


Balakrishnan, Chief Executive, BOS National Flavor (P) Ltd Bombay on
August 8, 2009.

 BT For the People (the biotechnology awareness programme to meet the


people) was organized at Vellani, with medical camp and Classes on BT
related subjects in August 23, 2009.

 The Three day international symposium on Marine Biotechnology


“Biovision’09” was organized on October 1 st to 3rd 2009. Dr. G Syda Rao,
Director, Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute Kochi inaugurated.

Papers and Participated in the Symposium

 Dr. Benjamin Pushparaj, Microbiloigist from Italy shared his experience of


“Antarctic Expedition” on 24 th November 2009.

 Dr. A White from University of Abertoy, Scotland addressed the


Biotechnology students on “Scope of overseas education in Biotechnology”
on 25th November 2009.

 Mr. Bharat Rampal from International Business Wales addressed the


Biotechnology students on “opportunities of abroad” on 25 th November
2009.

 “Bioquest 2010”, the technical journa l is released on 9 th December 2009 by


Executive Director

 On December 15, 2009 a debate on GMO was conducted. Dr. Balagopal,


Dean of BT, MEFAT and Dr. Jacob from Asian Institute of food safety
management participated. The debated was specifically on geneti cally
modified Brinjal (BT Brinjal). The recommendations of the debate were
submitted to Government of Kerala.

 On December 17, 2009 the Director of MSMEDT, Government of India


inaugurated the EDC unit in BT department and released the various
products produced by the unit. A talk by Mr. Christo Joseph, MD, Hykon , a
successful entrepreneur was arranged on the occasion.

5.3 ACES:

 Study tour of students conducted for S3 , S5 and S7 classes

 The CS Department organized a three day workshop on “Artificial


Intelligence Systems’ for the faculty members of Engineering Colleges on
March 26 to 28 2009. Rev. Msgr. Thomas Melekudy inaugurated the
workshop.

 Ms. Anitha R, 2006 batch alumni shared her experience of working in IT


Company on 4 th April 2009.

 Mr. Harikrishnan, 2007 batch alumni shared his experience with the
students on 8 th August 2009.

 A seminar on CCNA, Linux and Ethical hacking was conducted by CMS


Computers on August 8 2009.
 EMANATE –’09 a two day technical event was organized by the initiative of
S5 CS students on August 17, 2009

 The S3 CS students organized a one day exhibition on Computer Hardware


and Software “Astra 09” on 24 th September 2009.

 A three day international seminar “EMIN ENCE’09” was conducted on


November 16 th to 18th 2009. Many Important personalities including Mr.
Ankit Fadia participated.

 ACES published second volume of department Journal “EVACOS 09” on


23rd November 2009.

 ACES arranged a Seminar on “Virtual Private Networks and Computer


Security” BY Mr. Tom Jose, Appin Labs, Coc hin on 15 th December 2009

 Students of 8 th semester CS visited St. Xavier’s Orphanage, Kodakara in


association with social service activities of ACES. They celebrated new year
with inmates.

 On 18th February the 3 day workshop for teachers on wireless com puting &
Mobile Adhoc Net Wires inaugurated today by Prof. C.P. Sunilkumar
Secretary of ISTE Kerala.

5.4 EMAGE:

 Emage released the collection of technical seminar paper “SCINTILLA 08”


on January 20, 2009

 Study tours for 3 – 7 days was arranged for the s tudents

 A seminar on Embedded System and VLSI was conducted by Impulse


Technologies and Solutions Thrissur on 4 th April 2009.

 The Journal of the Association “Connomissnce 09” was released on 7 th July


2009.

 A presentation of the Aeromodeling and Flight simulation was conducted


by Thrissur Aeromodeling Centre on 28 th October 2009.

 The two day national seminar “TACHYONS’09” was conducted on 9 th &


10th November 2009. Mr. Mohan M, Deputy Team Leader Moon Impact
Probe, Chandrayan, ISRO inaugurated the seminar.

 On 16th February the EMAGE released the department Technical Journal


“SCINTILLA 09”

6.0 Students Projects : The students are encouraged to do project in all


semesters starting form I & II semester to VIII semester.

The exhibition of VIII semester projects was conducted on 14th May 2009 and
exhibition of the students Projects of VI and IV semesters were conducted on May
16th and 17th 2009

The following projects were awarded the best project award of Rs. 1000/00 each.

The Students Council for the year 200 9 – 10 was inaugurated on 24th July 2009 by
our Chairman Bishop Mar James Pazhayattil. The office bearers took charge of
their office after taking the Oath. The student’s council organized many programs

Independence Day was celebrated with flag hoisting and canvas painting
competition. Mr. P Ubaid, Judge, Munsiff Court, Irinjalakuda delivered
Independence Day Message.

Onam was celebrated on August 29, with pookkalam competition and many other
entertainments.

The Birth day of Chairman was celebrated on 24th July 2009 and the Birth day of
Executive Director was celebrated on 16 th December 2009

The Engineers Day was celebrated on 15 th September 2009 with message by Mr. S
Swapnakumar, HOD of CSE Department.

The Kerala State Formation Day was celebrated on 1 st November 2009.

The Arts Day “Panache 10” was celebrated on 4 th & 5th December 2009. Mr. Leo
Thaddeus, Film Director Inaugurated the Arts Festival.

The Inter Association Games Tournaments was inaugurated by Ms. Geethu Anna
Jose, Captain of Indian Women Basketball Team, on November 13, 2009.

The Anti Ragging Awareness Programme was conducted to the parents , students
and staff. The District Jugde Kamal Pasha addressed the gathering.

Christmas was celebrated with competitions and entertainments on 19 th

December 2009.

Directors Birthday was celebrated on 2nd January 2009

8.0 Participation in Inter Collegiate Competitions :

Our Students participated in many Inter Collegiate Technical, Arts and Sports
Competitions and won prizes. The following students won prizes in various
competitions during the period of Report.

1. Ms Judie Johny (2055004) won the second prize in the intercollegiate


elocution competition conducted by the Chavara cultural centre -Kochi.

second prize in paper presentation in the International conference in BT
organized at METS engineering college on 4 th Feb 09.

4. Ms Beena Thomas (207722) and Ms Aruna Paul (207702)won the first prize
in the Quiz competition conducted by the Kerala motor vehicles dept on
5th February 2009.

5. Ms Chris John (205000) won the first prize in painting and second prize in
pencil drawing competition conducted by the Kerala Motor vehicles dept
in connection with the road safety week on 5th February 2009.

6. Ms Judie Johny (205004) won the second prize in slogan making and third
prize in essay writing competition conducted by the Kerala state Motor

7. 12 Students from our VI semester Biotechnology has attended The


BioAsia 2009, the International Symposium conducted at Hyderabad on

35.Ms. Nicy S ( 107 006)VI the EC won the 1 st Prize in all Kerala story writing
competition conducted by Modal Vi llage Library, Panamattan.

36.Ms. Nirmala Isabel Vincent (406 716) and Ms. Salwa C H (406 254) won the
First Prize in Paper Presentation at conducted at Sree Buddha College of
Engineering.

8.1 Sports & Games :

1. The PEGSAGA, Volley Ball Tournament was condu cted at our ground on
April 1st to 4th 2009 and our team won the runner up trophy.

2. The PEGSAGA tournaments in shuttle badminton and Table Tennis were


conducted in April 29, 2009 at our Indoor Stadium and our team won the
following prizes. Winners Trophy i n Women Shuttle and Table Tennis
and Runner up Trophy in men’s Shuttle and Table Tennis.

3. Practice Matches were arranged in Volley Ball and Basket Ball with the
Minor Seminary Irinjalakuda and Major Seminary Thrissur.

4. The PEGSAGA tournaments in shuttle badminton and Table Tennis were


conducted in 5 th February 2010 at our Indoor Stadium and our team won
the following prizes. Runners Trophy in Women Shuttle and Table Tennis

9.0 National Service Scheme :

The unit of NSS (Unit No. 164) Technical Cell of our college organized many
Programmes during the period of report.

 The NSS Volunteers conducted a financial security survey of 1500 families


in Kodakara Panchayath in the month of March 2009.

 NSS arranged a Blood & Eye Donation campaign on 26 th June 2009. Fr. Dr.
Francis Alappatt, Director of Jubilee Mission Medical College delivered an
awareness talk to the staff and students. Forty students donated their blood.

 The International Youth Day was celebrated with essay writtting


competition on 14 th August 2009.

 Distributed tablets to staff and students in connection with Elephantiasis


Eradication Programme on 11 th November 2009.

 NSS arranged a demonstration of aero sports in campus on 28 th October


2009.

 A ten day special camp is being organized from Dec ember 16 th at


Vellanchira, Chalakudy.

10.0 Other Important Programmes : The following programmes were


conducted in the Campus during the period of report.

 The Annual Sports Meet was conducted on March 23, 2009, Fr. Vincent
Tharayil inaugurated the meet

 The College Arts Day “SATRANG2K9” was celebrated on March 25 th & 28th
.Mr. Anoop Sankar, Playback Singer inaugurated

 The College Day was celebrated on 28 th March 2009Hon’ble Justice Mr. P N


Ravindran, High Court of Kerala was the Chief Guest.

 The formal send off to the fourth batch of students “AUREVOIR 09” was
arranged on 8 th May 2009. Bishop Mar James Pazhayattil presented Silver

Ring, file with certificates, Transcript and Testimonials to all the outgoing
students

 A three day residential retreat “FIA T 09” was organized in the campus
during 8th to 11th October 2009.

 A two day technical fest “COHERENCE 09” was organized by the ISTE
Students Chapter on October 30, 31 2009

 Class wise PTWA meeting was arranged in the month of July and December

 The convocation of 3 rd batch (2008 pass out) was conducted on 13 th


November 2009. Dr. Kuncheriya P Issac, Director of Technical Education,
Government of Kerala delivered the Convocation Address.

11.0 Scholarships and Awards : The Diamond Ring for the Best All
round Student of the Year 2007 – 08 sponsored by M/s Sunny Diamonds, Rajaji
Road, Ernakulam was awarded to M s. Rimna Rasheed (205004) of BT.

All staff members who completed five years and more of Service in Sahrdaya
were honored with Silver Ring and Certifica tes

Scholarships and Awards from Bishop Mar James Pazhayattil Silver Jubilee
Welfare Fund was given to deserving students based on the recommendations of
the Committee constituted for the same

Total free ship is offered to 20 students and fee concession is given to 2 students

An amount of Rs. 2,82,500 is given as management scholarship to 19 e conomically


Poor Students.

An amount of Rs. 2, 65,000 is given from the Charity Fund to 14 economically


poor students

An amount of Rs. 5, 00,000 is given to the Catholic College Managements


Association Scholarship Fund.

A total of Rs. 16, 69,100 is given to 55 students during 2008 -09 financial year as
scholarship and free ship

12.0 Important Academic Achievements :

 Infosys Technologies promoted Sahrdaya to the level of high performance


colleges

 SAHRDAYA has been graded as “Good” in the grading of Engineering


Colleges in Kerala by RECCANIT

 In the India’s Top 50 Engineering College Survey 2009 conducted by


Competition Success – review SAHRDAYA came in the 37 th position.

 Sahrdaya filed an application with AICTE for an additional intake under


ECE and a new branch under EEE, on 30 th October 2009

 Ms. Asha N D, Assistant Professor in BME, secured the Second Rank in


M.Tech from Anna University

 Ms. Delsa Davis (206 704) and Ms. Deepa K (206 714) were selected for Merit
Award by Architects and Engineers Association, Thrissur for being top in
Computer Science Engineering among the students of all the eight
Engineering Colleges in Thrissur District.

 Two students R & D Projects (1 from BME and 1 from BT) are selected for a
Grant of Rs. 30000/00 and Rs. 50000/00 respectively from the Institution
of Engineers (India).

 Ms. Remya Vijayakumar (209 904) selected to the semi finals of famous
music reality show conducted by Amri ta T V “Super Star 2”

13.0 Infra Structure Facilities :

 The Campus Chapel was blessed on 25 th September 2009 by Mar James


Pazhayattil

 The New Canteen Block is inaugurated on 25 th September

 The new ladies hostel(third) on 25 th September

 65 new systems 2 UPS 3- Servers are purchased

 SAHRDAYA TECH, the sister concern of Sahrdaya for Technology


development and Training Centre inaugurated at Info Park Koratty at 5th
January 2010.

14.0 Conclusion:

I thank our Chairman, Board of Trustees, Members of Advisory Board and


Academic Council, Parents, Faculty members, Staff and Students for their
cooperation help and Support. I would like to thank our manager Rev. Msgr. Dr.
Vincent Alappatt, our Executive Director Fr. Dr. Jose D Irimpan and Finance
Officer Fr. Dr. Antu Alappadan for their daily guidance and encouragement in
