Altered Keyboards
One difficulty students with Dyslexia face when using computers is
the QWERTY keyboard. As these students are already prone to
mixing up letters, a QWERTY keyboard only serves to add to the
confusion and struggle. Keyboards that have the letters arranged in
alphabetical order are available to help students spend less time
thinking about where they keys are and more time thinking about
the task.
Intellitools make the software and hardware for this keyboard and it
is currently being used in Australian Schools such as Cranleigh
School (Cambium Learning Group, 2010).
