Math 1 – Equations and Inequalities

Essential Questions:

• How can patterns be used to make predictions?

Unit Objectives:

I will be able to solve a variety of equations using observation, algebraic and GDC techniques.

• I will be able to solve single-step equations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and
division.
• I will be able to solve two and three step equations.
• I will be able to solve equations with variables on both sides
• I will be able to solve equations that use The Distributive Property.
• I will be able to check that my solution is correct.
• I will be able to use algebra to model, analyze and solve scenarios involving patterns and real life
situations.
• I will be able to solve simple linear inequalities in one variable.
• I will be able to solve multi-step linear inequalities in one variable.
• I will be able to represent an inequality on the number line.
