Background of Study

 Subject of our study is Pudun Polai a chai wala having a tea shop in patia

 He belongs to BADAPOKHARIA village

 Tea shop is the only permanent source of earning

 There are four members in the family

 Father and son are the working member


LIVELIHOOD PORTFOLIO

1. Tea shop:Daily profit is almost Rs150.

2. Working as labour:
 Only Podun Polai work as a labour

 Not a permanent earning source

 Average 10 days job in a month

 Wage rate is on an average Rs 150

3. Included under ANTYODAYA Scheme at their village


 Get 35kgs rice at 2 Rs/kg & 1and1/2 Kg of sugar at 14Rs/Kg
TOTAL INCOME

•Average Income from Shop :- Rs 4500 per month Approximately

•Wage labor :- Rs1500 Approx.

LIABILTIES

• He has taken 5 loans of Rs60,000 for his daughter marriage from

Mahila samiti SHGs,

•Interest rate on loan was 11%

• Still looking for more loan for younger daughter marriage


RISK FACTOR AND MITIGATION
 Rainy season brings challenges and problem for them as shop
itself is the house for them.

 Illegal set up of shop in the government area .

 No permanent alternative means of livelihood which lead them


to take loan.

 As such they have no strategies to over come the risk and


liabilities.
CONCLUSION

 The core problem is lack of employment opportunity In


rural areas, which leads to migration from rural to urban
which create stress in urban area

 Due to less diverse livelihood portfolio and lack of


employment opportunity loan burden is increasing
