OBJECTIVES OF TEACHING AND LEARNING

The heart of education, teaching and learning process,is the most

powerfull instrument to bring about desired changes in the student.in
teaching and learning process, the student, the teacher, curriculum and
other variables are organized in a systematic way to attain some pre-
determined goals.

It is very important to all teaching staffs to be aware of the

meaning of the terms objectives and learning outcomes.a teacher-driven
objective means, what it is intended that the teacher will do, and learning
outcome means what the student will have learnt or will able to do, as a
result of a learning experience.

Providing broad understanding of an area of academic study, giving

environment and help to aquire the knowledge and skills are comes
under teaching objectives. Devoloping proffessional values and
collaborative skills has a vital role in todays world.moreover assess the
students in respect of the above mentioned things and giving support to
them are also important.

Experts often talk about learning objectives by using the acronym S-A-
K. Here ‘S’ stands for skills, ‘K’ for knowledge, and ‘A’ for attitudes.what
student should be able to do by the time the course is completed(skills),
what students should know and understand (knowledge), and what the
students opinions will be about the subject matter of the
course(attitudes) are considered to describe learning objectives.

In the past, objectives have often been defined in terms of the

teacher’s activity. But it should be defined in the terms of the ultimate
purpose-student learning.
