Samer Public Notice Environmental Assessment Intelligence Community Campus ‘Bethesda, Maryland (Montgomery County) All Interested Parties: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District (the Corps) is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) for an Intelligence Community Campus (ICC) project in Bethesda, Maryland. The Proposed Action to be evaluated in the EA is a master plan forthe development of an Intelligence Community Campus on the existing site ofthe National Geospatial-inelligence Agency (NGA) Sumner Site in Bethesda, Maryland. The current NGA. operations at the Suraner Site Will be relocated to NGA's new facility curently under construction at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. The Sumner ste is located at 4600 Sangamore Road, Bethesda, Maryland, 20816 in Montgomery County, Maryland, on property leased fiom the Department ofthe Army. Figure 2 is a map (Enclosure 2) showing the proposed renovation concept for the conversion ofthe NGA Sumner Site to the ICC, ‘The Master Plan forthe ICC includes several changes tothe existing NGA Sumner Site to address Anti-Terrorism, Force Protection, and Structural Engineering requirements, to obtain Leadership in Fagineering and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver rating. and to meet the requirements of the ICC tenants. ‘The EA will be prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, as amended, and will document potential impacts tothe natural and human environment from the proposed renovation of NGA Sumner Site for the ICC. It includes an assessment of environmental, socioeconomic, and infrastructure impacts resulting from the Proposed Action and ano action alternative, Upon completion ofthe Draft EA, the Corps will prepare a Notice of. ‘Availabilty which wil be distributed tothe same individuals as this Public Notice. Interested parties are invited to submit written comments for consideration within 1S days of this notice, Any comments received will be considered in the preparation of the EA.
