DIODE
A diode has unidirectional property that
it conducts only in forward bias and in
reverse bias it is cut-off. This property
makes the diode a versatile device.

RECTIFIERS
Rectifier is a circuit which is used to
convert a.c. voltage into the
pulsating d.c. voltage.
Half Wave Rectifier
When a single diode is used as a rectifier,
the rectification of only one-half of the A.C.
wave form takes place. Such a rectification
is called half-wave rectification.
WORKING

(a) During the positive alteration of the 60hz input voltage, the
output voltage looks like the positive half of the input voltage. The
current path is through ground back to the source.
(b) During the negative alternation of the input voltage, the current is 0,
so the output voltage is also 0.

(c) 60 Hz half-wave output voltage for three input cycles.

coupled input voltage.
INPUT OUTPUT
Full Wave Rectifier
Full-Wave Rectifier (FWR) is that type of
rectifier which utilizes both the half-cycle of
a.c. input voltage.
In other words, a FWR is a rectifier which
rectifies both the waves of a.c. input.
