Audience Questions
1. It really all depends on the type of text that the audience see/read. Many different people
from different cultures may like the same genre of texts even though they do not come from
the same walk of life. For example soaps appeal to many different people whether that is
middle class, lower class or people from different cultures. This is mainly to do with the
actors being a range of people from different social backgrounds.
2. It depends on what genre you are watching. For example if you watch a horror movie by
yourself it will scare you more because of the fact that it is literally between you and the
persona. It could make it more intense if the persona is looking directly at the camera as it
engages you as an audience more. Whereas if you watch a horror movie with someone else
because there is someone with you, you feel more comfortable and ‘safe’.

1. The video game ‘manhunt’ was banned because teenagers were influenced to copy the
horrifying content within.
2. It can be seen as negative for example the movie ‘2012’ caused havoc in that people
believed the world would in end on the 20 th December 2012 because they supported the
idea of the Myan calendar. But sometimes the influence doesn’t have to be negative for
example most comedy movies don’t have an impact on the way we morally panic.
4. The incorrect effect would be if the audience really worry about the text that they have
viewed and sometimes if they copy the content then it causes unnecessary distress to the
audience; when after all, the audience are supposed to enjoy a film.
