ABSTRACT

As a 3rd year student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of University Technology of Malaysia, it
is one of the requirements for the students to undergone the 10 weeks duration of industrial
practical training at any organizations which are related to civil engineering field. This is to
expose the students to feel the real working environment in civil engineering works which are a
bit challenging compared to the study and research phase.

I choose to undergone my practical training with Zecon Berhad which has started at 4th of May
until 11th of July 2009. During the training, I was attached and supervised by the Project
Engineer, Mr.Muhammad Iswandy B. Bujang and assisted by the Planning Engineer, Ms. Nurul
Yazlin Yusuf. Since the Zecon Matang Site Office is more concerned on the construction of
road, highway and bridges, I was involved in the construction of the Federal Administration
Centre (FAC) Road Access Project and also the Revised Route Project which is from Taman
Matang Jaya to Jalan Demak. During the brief stay, the company has provided me with lots of
basic training skills and supervision in being an engineer and exposure to the real working life.

The purposed of this report was written is to summarize the organization structure, the activities
carried out, and the achievements of the organization in their field of Civil Engineering. It will
describe the background of the company I have involved in, the background of the projects at
the moments and followed by the responsibilities carried out throughout my industrial training.
Descriptions of the activities being carried out, the problems faced and the solutions will be
elaborated next after. Any other relevant information can be found in the attachments at the
back of the report. The training is very useful and such a great opportunity for the students as it
has exposed me throughout the real world of engineering.
