February 12 is the day when the 16th
president of the USA was born. He was
one of the most important people in US
history.
He was born in Kentucky. His parents
weren´t rich. He studied at home. Later he
worked as a postman and shopkeeper.
He was interested in politics and became a
lawyer.
He married Mary Todd and they had four
sons. He was active in the Republican
Party and in 1860 became President.
He had many enemies. On April 14, 1865
Lincoln with his wife and friends went to the
theatre. He was shot by John Wilkes Booth
and died the next day.

Abraham Lincoln is celebrated as the

President who abolished slavery and won
the Civil War. In washington D.C. there is
the Lincoln Memorial.
