    AIMS
    The aims of teaching PE are practically the same in Ireland and Spain,
    for ex:
     To appreciate the use of the body and PE as an instrument of
    creativity, relationship with others and expression of feelings,
    emotions and ideas.
     To promote enjoyment of PE and positive attitudes towards it.
     To use their physical abilities to adapt the movement to the
    circumstances and conditions of each situation.

    The aims are more general in the Irish Curriculum and more specific in
    the Spanish one.
    CONTENTS

    5 blocks: 6 strands:
     - The body image and perception.  - Athletics
     - Motor skills.  - Dance
     - Artistic and expressive physical  - Gymnastics
    activities.
     - Games
     - Physical activity and health.
     - Outdoor and adventure
     - Games and sport activities. activities
    No aquatics.  - Aquatics
    The Irish strands are included in the
    different Spanish blocks.
    CROSS-CURRICULAR CONTENTS

     -First aids and prevention of accidents in sports and physical


    activities.
     -Traditional games, dances and sports.
     -Gender equality in sports.
     -Role of the women in sports and physical activities through
    History.
     -Violence and doping in sports.
     -The effects of outdoor and adventure activities on the
    environment.
     - Etc. 
    SCHEDULE

     - 2 hours per week.  - 2 hours per week.


     - Compulsory in  - Compulsory in
    Primary and Primary to 17 years
    Secondary School old.
    (6-16 yrs old)
     - Mainly indoors.
     - Mainly outdoors.
    STUDIES
     - 3 years of Bachelor of Education (4 years with Bolonia).
     - Different specialities:
    * PE. * SEN.
    * Music. * Infants (0-6 year-old children)
    * Foreign Languages. * Primary Generalist Teacher.
    * Audition and Language.

     - Specialists have priority over generalists.


    STUDIES

     - 3 years of Bachelor of Education.

     - Generalist teachers.
    ADVANTAGES
     WE HAVE A REALLY GOOD WEATHER CLASSES ARE USUALLY INDOORS,
    ALL THE YEAR. BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER.
    More outdoor activities. Diversity of PE resources.
    Not much PE resources.

    SPECIALIST TEACHERS FOR PE. IRELAND HAVE AQUATICS IN THEIR


    CURRICULUM.
    WE DON’T HAVE AQUATICS BUT
    SPORT CENTERS OFFER AQUATICS
    COURSES AND ALSO IN THE COAST.
