Mission!!!

NatureWorks LLC is the leader in

producing polymer from 100%
annually renewable resources, and
is dedicated to meeting the world's
needs today without compromising
the earth's ability to meet the needs
of tomorrow.
introduction

Nature works LLC – subsidiary of Cargill, Inc. US based food company,

member of European Plastics.

Cargill efforts to make plastic from corn began in 1988.

First company to offer low carbon footprint polymers derived from 100%

annually renewable resources with cost and performance that compete with oil-

based plastics and fibers.

The production of these biopolymers uses less fossil fuel and emits fewer

greenhouse gases than conventional polymers.

Manufacturing Unit are located in Blair, Nebraska & USA, with a capacity

of 300 million pounds.

In 2003, NatureWorks LLC built the world’s largest lactic acid

manufacturing facility to feed their polymer plant.

In 2005, NatureWorks LLC purchased Renewable Energy Certificates.

NatureWorks LLC does business in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific,

and works with converters, brandowners and retailers around the world.
What is pla???
• PLA plastics stands for Polylactide,

• Versatile polymer made from lactic acid.

• It is clear and naturally glossy.

• It has flavor and odor barrier characteristics (similar to the popular plastic used

in soft drinks and many other foods.)

• Polyactide is very flexible able to used manufacturing processes, such as

injection molding, sheet extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming, film forming

and fiber spinning.

What is pla??? (Cont…)

• Corn based biopolymer.

• Environment friendly.

• Made from renewable sources.

• PLA gets composted in few weeks.

Why pla ??

1. Price hike of petroleum and consequently in petro-based plastics.

2. Growing public demand for a ban against single-use plastic bags.

3. Environment friendly.

4. Price advantage.

5. People were becoming more and more nature based.
