Name-PHENCYCLIDINE

Street names- PCP, Angle dust, Tic-tac, Zoom, Super Grass and
Sherman.

Brief Description- PCP is abused for its mind-altering effects. It is


abused in one of three ways: snorted, smoked, or swallowed. Smoking is
the most common method of abusing PCP. Many People mix PCP with
marijuana. Also some people mix their PCP with spices such as oregano
and then rolled in a joint and smoked.

Short Term Effects- Body-awareness, shallow breathing, flushing,


profuse sweating, generalized numbness of the extremities and poor
muscular coordination, hallucinations as well as seizures, coma, and
death.

Long Term Effects- PCP is addicting; that is, its use often leads to
psychological dependence, craving, and compulsive PCP-seeking
behavior, memory loss, difficulties with speech and thinking,
depression, and weight loss.

How Dangerous is it? – PCP is very dangerous. PCP can produce


violent or bizarre behavior in people who are not normally that way.
This behavior can lead to death from downing’s, burns, falls
(sometimes from high places), and automobile accidents. It can leave
you with very bad long-term effects that could alter you life. It could
also give you a “Bad Trip” meaning while you are on this drug it can
make you think you are doing horrible things that can hurt you
physically and you would not even know you are doing it.

Legal Status- PCP is a class A (Schedule 1) controlled drugs.


Meaning it is illegal.

Fact-PCP is a class A drug, the same class as cocaine, meaning that if


caught supplying there is a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
The maximum penalty for possession is 7 years in prison and a fine.

Help? – There is a lot of help out there for heavy use of PCP. There
are rehab centers across the country. There are also online help
centers and people that you can call and talk to. The main Rehab
center is in Alberta, Canada.
