Harry S. Truman was the
33rd president of the United States of
America. He was vice
president to Franklin D. Roosevelt. Due to
the death of FDR, Truman became
president during the last few months of
WW2. He was the president that decided to
drop the atomic bomb on Japan. He served
two terms from 1945-1953. He died in
1972.
Admiral Chester Nimitz

Admiral Chester Nimitz was

a Five Star Admiral in the United
Navy during WW2. He was the
leading U.S. Navy authority on
submarines in 1939. He served as
Chief of Naval operations from
1945-1947. Nimitz was the United
States last surviving fleet admiral.
He died February 20, 1966.

How the US joined the WW2

America did not want to get involved in

the war before the Japanese attacked. The
Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and the
United States declared war on them. Bring
the United States into World War II. After
the Japanese bombing, which killed 2,300
Americans, congress declared war. A few
days later, Germany and Italy declared war
on the United States.
It was in August, 1940, that
the United States broke the Japanese "purple"
war-time code. This gave the American
government the ability to read and understand all
of their recoverable war-time messages. Machines
were able to de-code Japan's messages, and they
were sent all over the world, but none was sent to
Pearl Harbor. This was another reason America
joined WW2
Air warfare and The U.S. Home front
Air warfare during World War 2 was
called: Luftwaffe for Germany, Royal Air force
of Great Britain and Japans Air Force and
American Air force. America battled all of these
stated in the air. Even though Great Britain’s Air
Force was a whole lot better than Germany’s,
Japan’s and America’s, America still defeated
all of them when we dropped the Atomic bomb
on Japan.
The U.S. Home front is when women
went to work during World War 2. When all the
young men and men were in the war there
wasn’t anyone to do their jobs, except the
women. So they went to work building planes,
war artillery, and weapons. When the war was
over Women still worked in factories. All these
Women were a part of a Labor Union.
