When I heard that a representative from the Office of Education Abroad was
visiting our class, I thought I would be very bored with what they had to say. I was
pleasantly surprised, not only by the presentation itself, but also by the information
that was presented. I have always assumed that traveling to another country to
continue my education would be something that I could not do. I come from a poor
family, and the bulk of my college education is relying on financial aid. I thought that
I would not be eligible for financial aid if I visited another country for education. I
also thought traveling would be much more expensive than it really is. Furthermore,
I would have never guessed that there are so many scholarships and grants
available to students who are wishing to travel for education. I also assumed you
had to know a foreign language to travel. The representative debunked this myth,
and pointed out that we could even travel to another English speaking country.
