Circle Graphs

A step by step how to.

Step 1: Organize the data in a table.

Number Percent Angle

(Fraction x 100) Measure

Right
14
Brain

Left
3
Brain

Middle 5
Step 2: Find the percent.
Remember to find percent set it up as
follows… Part x 100 = Percent
Whole
Number Percent Angle
(Fraction x 100) Measure

14 x 100 = 63%
Right
14 22
Brain
3 X 100 = 14%
Left Brain 3 22

5 X 100 = 23%
Middle 5 22
Step 3: Use these percents to find the angle
measures of the sectors of the circle graph.
To find the angle measure, multiply the
percent by 3.6
Number Percent Angle
(Fraction x 100) Measure

14 x 100 = 63%
Right 63 x 3.6 = 227º
14 22
Brain
3 X 100 = 14%
Left Brain 3 22 14 x 3.6 = 50º

5 X 100 = 23%
Middle 5 22 23 x 3.6 = 83º
Step 4: Use a compass to draw a
circle.

.
Step 5: Use a protractor to draw
sectors having the angle measures
found in step 3. Start with the
smallest Angle

14%
Step 6: Draw the next sector using
the next smallest angle of
measurement found in step 3.

23%

14%
Step 7: Use a protractor to draw
check that the final sector’s angle of
measurement is correct

63% 23%

14%
Step 8: Color and label each segment
