Assignment:
Each group is to conduct a perceptual analysis of two print advertisements. In your
analysis of each advertisement, please address the following questions and defend your
positions.

Questions:
1. What sensory systems are being used to process the advertisement?
2. Do you see any issues related to exposure (e.g., absolute threshold,
psychophysics, J.N.D., subliminal messages, embeds, etc.)?
3. What techniques do you think are being used to get the consumers attention?
4. What group do you think is being targeted with the advertisement?
5. What organizational principles do you think consumers may use to interpret the
advertisement?
6. How do you think marketers intend the message to be interpreted?
7. How might the advertisement be misinterpreted?

Group Report:
Staple the two advertisements to your report. The report should include a typed response
to each of the questions above. Include only those group members that attended class on
the day of the lab. See the syllabus for additional formatting and grading information.
