The importance of building services in building.
What is a building without water, lighting, ventilation and a proper sewage disposal system?
The authorities that are responsible for the production and distribution of electric current to
our nation is JPS Jamaica public service. Imagine the today’s world without electricity almost
everything will come to a halt, technology that we have come to depend on has come to a
standstill, building that are artificially ventilated would become practically useless. Current is
distributed in two ways, single phase and three phase. The single phase is distributed to homes
and small business, three phase is distributed to large buildings and factory’s that operate
heavy machinery.
Proper ventilation in a building is very important because it circulates the air that is inside a
building keeping it cool in the hot time and warm in the cold times. Improper ventilation inside
a structure will cause the people in residence to become uncomfortable. There are two types of
ventilation, they are; natural ventilation and artificial ventilation. National ventilation is
normally found in homes where there are a lot of doors and windows on either side of the
building, so then when cool air enters the hot air will then escape. In tall buildings artificial is
needed because cool air sinks while hot air rises, so therefore in a very tall building the upper
floor will be hot, while the lower floors will be very cool, elevators would rendered useless

inconvenience to the occupancies, because water is need for almost everything that we do,
The NSWMA National solid waste management agency is responsible for the removal and
treatment of sewage and other waste water, before it is sent back in to the never ending cycle
of life. There are three types of sewage disposal systems: partial, combined and separate
systems.
