 Biography
 David Hilbert, a German mathematician
was born on 23 January 1862.
 Hilbert discovered and developed a broad
range of fundamental ideas in many areas.
 He also formulated the theory of Hilbert
spaces, one of the foundations of functional
analysis.
 Hilbert is known as one of the founders of
proof theory and mathematical logic, as well
as for being among the first to distinguish
between mathematics and met-mathematics

 A Hilbert space is an abstract
vector space possessing the
structure of an inner product
that allows length and angle
to be measured.
 Hilbert spaces are required to
be complete, a property that
stipulates the existence of
enough limits in the space to
allow the techniques of
calculus to be used.

DAVID HILBERT'S INVENTION…

 An "invariant" is something that is
left unchanged by some class of
functions.

 In terms of a geometrical
transformation, an it would be an
object that does not alter its shape
or size while it is being moved.

 David Hilbert reduced branches of

mathematics such as geometry to a
series of axioms, therefore,
removing mathematics from any
relationship to a physical reality.
