    This document provides import duty and tax rates for used and new electric and hybrid motor vehicles into Sri Lanka. For electric vehicles less than 3.5 years old, import duty is 28% with additional taxes of 10% surcharge, 20% VAT, and 20% excise duty. For hybrid vehicles less than 3.5 years old, import duty is 28% with additional taxes of 10% surcharge, 20% VAT, and 60% excise duty. New electric and hybrid vehicles have the same import duty of 28% but additional taxes totaling 199% of the CIF value.
