Henry VIII's Power
- Henry the eighth was the ruler of great Britain from 1509 until
his death in 1547.
- He was king of Ireland as well.
- the Irish citizens were not happy with having an english man
as there king.
- was married to six different wives.
- Established himself as extreme head of the church of
england.
- Ruled with absolute power
- member of the Tudor dynasty
- Made england a protestant nation.
- created the treaty of westminster, a pledge of mutual aid with
spain against France preparing him for involvement in the war
of the league of Cambrai.
                 Economy and trade

- Created a prosperous economy.


- Henry was a spendthrift
- Henry also demanded a lot of taxes which caused his people
to become poor.
- spent a lot of the kingdoms money on building new palaces.
Religion 

- Henry tried to secure the pope's permission to divorce


Catherine of Aragon and to marry Anne of Boleyn because his
first wife could not bear him any child.
- When the pope refused to give him the annulment, Henry was
forced into the action.
- He created the Anglican Church for separating the pope from
the Catholic. The incharge of Anglican Church was the Jesus
Christ. 
- Henry believed that salvation is only achieved through faith
alone.
- Henry believed that the Pope was not powerful in all term of
religion, so he separated Pope from the Catholic Church and
made himself the supreme head of the Anglican Church.
                 External problems

- Henry VIII main external problems include about the France


and Hapsburg.
- France tried to take advantage of the breakdown between
Charles and Henry VIII. 
- He wanted to involved in the war between the France and
Hapsburg but he did not wanted antagonise france.
- The geographic distance between the Austria and England
 was sufficient to convince that the England was safe from
Charles V.
               Internal Problems

- Henry VIII main internal problem was to have an heir to


assume the throne after his death. 
- Henry's 3rd wife bore him a son but unfortunately he died at
the age of 15 from TB.
- Another issue that bug him later was that he had mary his
brother's wife while he was prepared for a life devoted to the
church.
- He began marrying and divorcing with so much fervor that he
was seen as a Societal Womanizer.
- He arrested and executed his father as soon as he became
king of England and this showed that if anybody who would do
against him would be executed.
