Crimping tool

Crimp tools are used to join two pieces of metal by deforming one or both pieces to hold the
other. The bend or deformity is called the crimp. In wiring applications, crimp tools are
used to attach a terminal or contact to an electrical conductor. Crimping reshapes both the
metal barrel and the conductor. As a rule, the creation of a proper crimp is a function of
the electrical conductor, the crimp barrel, and the crimp tool. The electrical resistance of
the crimp joint should be equal to, or less than, the resistance of an equal section of wire.
The mechanical strength of crimped joints varies with the applied deformation.

There are many different types of crimp tools. Examples include cable tie tools, RJ45 crimp
tools, hand crimp tools, and compression crimp tools. Cable tie tools are used for tightening
the ties around wire and cable bundles. RJ45 crimp tools are designed to crimp and cut the
wires of EZ-RJ45 connectors. These crimping tools also work with many RJ-11, RJ-12 and
RJ-45 connectors. Hand crimp tool or manual crimp tools are suitable for applications in
which weight and space are important considerations. Hand crimping tools can be either
manually-driven or power-driven. Compression crimp tools are used to terminate coaxial
compression connectors, twisted-pair modular plugs, and jacks.

Receptacles
Receptacles, commonly referred as outlets, are used to provide individual plug in points for power
distribution. The housing market most frequently uses 125-volt, 15 and 20-amp receptacles for general
household equipment. For appliances like 250-volt window air-conditioning units, a 250-volt, 30-amp
outlet is required.
Quick disconnect plugs
An electrical disconnect plug comprises an insulating plate having an enlarged plug portion at
one end thereof defining a pair of slit-like apertures and metal strips lie along the opposite
surfaces of said plate and are obtusely angled in the area of said slit-like aperture and have
tongues bent away from the plane surfaces thereof which cooperate with shoulder portions of
the plug to maintain the strips in fixed position within the plug.

Coaxial cable
is an electrical cable with an inner conductor surrounded by a flexible, tubular insulating layer,
surrounded by a tubular conducting shield.
