Signs and symptoms include oral or labial cold sores and fever, ocular symptoms such as vision loss, or cutaneous symptoms like pain, fever and skin edema. Medical management includes oral antiviral drugs like acyclovir. Nursing management focuses on personal hygiene, isolation of infected clients, and handwashing to prevent transmission.
