Three position drophead, bodied by Salmon/Tickford, this car has

undergone a painstaking twelve-year restoration, following its

discovery in a New Jersey barn in 1990.
The restoration is chronicled in a series of articles entitled "The
Search for the Holy Grill" which was published in Safety Fast and in
the SVW Register yearbook.
The result is an absolutely stunning example of a very rare car that
has won many awards, including first in class at the Palo Alto
Concours in 2004.
The car comes with extensive photo and paper documentation of the
renewal of the body, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, interior, top,
paint, and chrome. Serious interest only.

Tickford three position Drophead. Body by Salmons & Sons. ID#SA

1513. This is one of 695 built with 2.3 liter OHV six cylinder engines
with dual downdraft carbs.
Present owners purchased the car in 1988 out of storage in New
Jersey, from a fellow who imported it from England about 1971.
The car then had a total body-off restoration both mechanically and
cosmetically including but not limited to: replacement of all weak
wood with correct Ash, strengthening of body supporting door
supports.
The Full drive train was rebuilt using a correct type block.
Suspension, brakes, full interior, top, paint and chrome were also
done by professionals in their field, and experts on this model. The
work was completed over a period of twelve years ending in 2000
with the finished car.
Only 1881 miles are on the odometer since the restoration was
complete.
The work is exhaustively documented both with photos and receipts
and notes (the total weight of which is about 15 pounds). In fact, a
short story was written that has been published in the US and Europe
about the restoration titled "In Search of the Holy Grille" by co-owner
cartoonist Phil Frank.
The car is complete with all the large tools and the original owner's
manual. The car has been shown and some of the results are: 1st in
class Palo Alto Concourse 2004, 1st in Division Classics by the Sea
Concourse, Half Moon Bay, Ca. 2004, 1st Jack London Square
annual MG Meet more than once, also GOF award, 3rd place
Silverado Concourse 2004. Known flaws: Right traffic indicator is
broken.
