Lesson Hours This lesson consists of one hour of small group instruction.

Overview This lesson is designed to familiarize all Soldiers on Personnel Recovery (PR)
policies, concepts, roles, responsibilities, planning and execution. Army leaders
should understand the importance of PR, their roles and responsibilities for PR, the
broad concept for PR, and be familiar with FM 3-50.1 Army Personnel Recovery.

Learning Terminal Learning Objective (TLO).

Objective
Action: Develop a base of knowledge of the terms, definitions, and
procedures associated with Personnel Recovery.

Conditions: As a team/squad/section leader, in a classroom environment, and

FM 3-50.1 (SH-2).

Standards: Apply understanding of Personnel Recovery by:

• Defining the terms associated with Personnel Recovery, and
• Identifying Personnel Recovery execution concepts.

ELO A Define key terms associated with Personnel Recovery.

ELO B Identify Personnel Recovery execution concepts.

Assignments The student assignments for this lesson are:

• Read Student Handout 1, Appendix D, for the reading and study assignments.
• Scan FM 3-50.1 (SH-2), Chapters 1 and 5.
