TASK 252031870801A01
1. Description and Operation

A. Description

(1) The control units are used for the controls of the horizontal and vertical position of
the Pilot and 1st Officer seats (BOEING B747, B757, B767 and B777 Aircraft). The
equipped control box mainly consists of:

(a) A control unit fitted with:

– A casing
– A monitoring board fitted mainly with three sealed lead projection modules
and five relays
– A grounding wire connecting the cover to the board and the casing
– A jumper
– A cover fitted with four locks

(b) A main switch cable

(c) A vertical cable

(d) A monitoring switch cable

(e) A horizontal cable

(f) A grounding cable

(2) The casing is delivered with a connection kit including:

– A plastic bag
– Eighteen male contacts for crimping
– A 6contact female connector, an elbowed cable clamp fitting
– A sleeve and three type DM5 cable clamps

(3) This kit is designed for the connection of the casing to the seat during assembly
at the factory.

(4) The equipment of test units N164 and N1641 is identical; the difference is in the
connection of the cables on the sealed lead projection modules according to the
seat it is assigned to (Pilot or 1st Officer).

(5) Identification

(a) The equipped control box is identified by an identification plate attached to the
front flange by splined pins.

(b) Identification plate gives the information as follows:

– The manufacturer’s name

– The equipment description
– The equipment type
– The inspection stamp of the Authority having checked the equipment
– The serial number
– The date of manufacture

B. Operation

(1) The power supply for the control unit is 115 V/400 Hz between phase and neutral.

(2) Via relays K1 to K5, the control unit supplies the horizontal and vertical motors of
the actuators with 220 V/400 Hz between phases, the relays are supplied with 115
V/400 Hz by action on the "FORWARD" or "AFT" controls and/or "UP" or "DOWN" of
the seat.

(3) Function of each relay is given below:

– Relay K1
It is used to control seat retraction.
– Relay K2
It is used to control seat advance.
– Relay K3
It is used for motor heat protection, emergency stop or as safety relay.
– Relay K4
It is used to control seat lowering.
– Relay K5
It is used to control seat rising.

(4) End of travel stops (outside the casing) cut of the power supply of relay K1, K2, K4
and K5.
