Brown Bat

By: Makala Fabrizio

Were brown bats live.
Bats are everywhere and you've got them. Just after dusk when our eyes are still accustomed to bright daylight, we
often ignore that fleeting sliver of motion without a thought or we question whether we actually saw or just imagined
something. We did. We saw a bat! Bats inhabit all continental U.S. states and Canadian provinces.

What brown bats eat.

They eat thousands of insect pests. One bat can catch over a thousand insects in an hour and over three thousand in a night.
They catch mosquitoes, moths, flies, flying beetles, among other insects too numerous to list. They typically roost near water and
are especially useful in control of the huge insect hoards that appear during aquatic insect hatchings.

What brown bats look like.

Bats are mammals in the order Chiroptera. This name means “hand-wing,” because their wings are made up of very
long fingers. Their arms actually are quite short.
Little brown bats are about 2 inches long. Their wingspan is 9 inches. They come in different shades of brown. Their
fur is glossy, and their feet are large. They look just like another very common bat, the big brown bat, but they are much
smaller.
Who brown bats enemies are?
Besides people, the enemies of bats are hawks, skunks, mink, raccoons, cats, and dogs. Their known enemies include
barn owls, horned owls, and black snakes. Bats natural enemies include eagles and falcons.

An amazing fact about bats.

1 bat can eat at least 500 mosquitoes in a hour.

Bat joke.
Once there were three bats. They lived in a cave surrounded by three castles. One night the bats made a bet to see
who could drink the most blood.

The first bat comes home one night and has blood dripping off his fangs. The other two bats are amazed and asked
how much blood he had drunk.

The first bat said, "See that castle over there? I drank the blood of three people." The second bat goes out on his night and
comes back with blood around his mouth. The other two bats are astonished and ask how many people's blood had he
drunk. The bat said, "See that castle over there. I drank the blood of five people."

The third bat goes out on his night and comes back covered in blood. This was totally amazing to the other two bats.
They ask how much blood he drank. The 3rd bat said, "See that castle over there?" and the other bats nod. "Well," says
the third bat, "I didn't."
