Join HAF in London to attend the Judicial Review

Later in January the Judicial Review into South Central
Strategic Health Authority’s decision to fluoridate our
local water supplies will be held at the High Court in Lon-
don (located on The Strand).

On Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th January a High

Court judge will review whether the SHA took sufficient
notice of government policy to demonstrate that there is
sufficient public support for the scheme. The judge is
also considering if the SHA adequately assessed the co-
gency of the arguments made during the consultation.
The request for the Judicial Review was made by a local
resident who is being represented by Leigh Day and Co
solicitors and a barrister from Matrix Chambers.

Travel Plans:
The Judicial Review will be heard in public and we would like to get as many HAF supporters as
possible to attend the hearing. The hearing commences at 10.30am and the easiest and cheap-
est way to travel will be by coach, as the rail fare would be £74 per person each day. By coach
the cost is likely to be about £20 per person for each day (depending on numbers). In order for
HAF to book coaches for both days we need to know how many people would like to attend. On
the Wednesday we expect press and TV reporters to attend and we plan to mount a demonstra-
tion on the steps of the High Court at about 9.45am before going in for the hearing.

In order to arrive in time for this a coach will need to leave Southampton at around 7am. On
the Thursday we would leave a little later. We will give exact times when a coach booking is
made.

It is important that we get numbers as soon as possible so please could you contact HAF by
