INTRODUCTION
 We often talk about the harms of pollution
but do you know what pollution actually is?
Before we can understand how to control
environmental impacts caused by various
forms of pollution we must first start at the
beginning with the basics to understand
what exactly pollution is and where it comes
from.

THERMAL POLLUTION

Thermal pollution is the degradation of water quality by any process that changes
ambient water temperature. A common cause of thermal pollution is the use of water
as a coolant by power plants and industrial manufacturers. When water used as a
coolant is returned to the natural environment at a higher temperature, the change in
temperature (a) decreases oxygen supply, and (b) affects ecosystem composition.

power plant first opens or shuts down for

repair or other causes, fish and other
organisms adapted to particular temperature
range can be killed by the abrupt rise in water
temperature known as 'thermal shock'.

RADIOACTIVE POLLUTION

Radioactve waste is a waste product containing radioactive material. It is

usually the product of a nuclear process such as nuclear fission, though
industries not directly connected to the nucler power industry may also
produce radioactive waste. Radioactive waste comes from a number of
sources. The majority of waste originates from the nuclear fuel cycle and
nuclear weapons reprocessing
Land pollution
Land pollution basically is about
contaminating the land surface of the Earth
through dumping urban waste matter
indiscriminately, dumping of industrial
waste, mineral exploitation, and misusing the
soil by harmful agricultural practices. Land
pollution includes visible litter and waste
along with the soil itself being polluted. The
soil gets polluted by the chemicals in
pesticides and herbicides used for
agricultural purposes along with waste
matter being littered in urban areas such as
roads, parks, and vegetation that provides
food and shelter is destroy.
