Rev. Steven D. Martin is the Executive Director for The New Evangelical Partnership for the Common Good, a new a
faith-based nonprofit offering a renewed Christian public witness for the sake of the Gospel and the common good. He
has served United Methodist Churches as pastor for twenty years and is a graduate of Candler School of Theology. He
has produced several films for public television, including “Muslims in Appalachia,” “Islam in America After
September 11th,” “Theologians Under Hitler,” “Renewal or Ruin?”, “Hearts Divided: Baptism and the Jews in the
Third Reich,” and most recently, “Elisabeth of Berlin.” He has lectured at the prestigious Chautauqua Institute and in
churches and seminaries across the US.
CONNECTIONS
We will resume our Faith Formation groups on January 16. All groups will meet. The “Faith in Action” group
will count “Guest at Your Table” money today. Three adult groups are scheduled for January 16: “Spirit in
Practice, facilitated by Sarah Johnson” “The Art of Unitarian Universalist Parenting, facilitated by Tandy
Scheffler” and a new group in the “Spotlight Series.” For the first day, it will be “Spotlight on The Board of
Trustees” and will be facilitated by Hal Hoyt, President of the Board, along with other members.
The ORUUC Church Office will be closed on January 17, in honor of MLK, Jr. Day
