The estate sale was for a house owned by a family-oriented couple that enjoyed gardening, collecting china and antiques, and showcasing their plates. They were also grandparents that held onto toys from the 1960s through more recent times. The homeowners seemed conservative and safety-conscious as they kept old bibles, emergency pamphlets, and 1970s encyclopedias.

Jillian English 2915 Potomac Ave Mesquite, Texas The owner of this house seemed to have an interest in collecting different china and various antiques. The china all had display stands which led me to believe that these plates weren’t just hidden in a drawer but rather showcased throughout the house. In the garage there were various gardening tools and out door furniture. This person must have enjoyed the outdoors since they not only had a manicured lawn and flowering pots through out the garage, but also many do it yourself tools that only on with a “green thumb” would posses. In the same room next to the baby clothes were toys from what appears to be the 1960s, but also toys that look more recent. This allowed me to conclude that the owners of this house were not just parents but grandparents.
Based upon homemade baby clothes,
it was obvious the mother of the house enjoyed knitting clothes for not only her children, but possibly even grandchildren. The owner held on to items such as “In time of EMERGENCY” which was a book that aided families on what to do during nuclear fall out. This led me to believe that 1) There was certainly a family of more than a husband and wife and 2) The parents were concerned about the family’s safety
The display case to the right was
very interesting to me. On top of it sat two old bibles, the Emergency pamphlets, an old picture, and a collection of encyclopedias from the early 1970s. This led me to believe that the family was probably old fashioned and conservative.
