Environmental Analysis
There are four forces of Environmental
Analysis:
• Political Analysis
• Economical Analysis
• Social Analysis
• Technological Analysis
Political Analysis
Tax Policy
– Under the current budget excise duty on all sorts of watches
has been hiked from 8% to 16%.
Regulatory Constraints
– There is no such regulatory body to regulate watch
industry.
Possible Result
Exchange Rate
The value of Rs. In comparison to USD is reduced. Earlier a
dollar was 41.37 (approx.) & in the recession period a
dollar was Rs. 51.35(approx.). Now it was Rs. 48.17.
Social Analysis
The size of the watch market currently is estimated to be around 40
to 45 million pieces annually. The organized sector alone
contributes up to 30 percent of this figure, and the rest of the
demand is being met by the unorganised grey sector. This data is
significant indeed in view of the socio economic distribution of the
Indian populace. More than 58 percent of the population is under
twenty five and more than 80 percent of the population is below 45
years of age (Those who wear wrist watches.)
Possible Result:
It clearly indicates that the majority of the Indian population is not
brand oriented when it comes to wrist watches. Thus, to gain a
market share from this unorganized sector remains the prime
challenge in front of wrist watch industries.
